Hi teapot
Hope you got the tax return in on time. How's it going now we're into Feb?
Hi Lois, good to see you back. I managed to finish the tax return [and OHs] a week before the deadline which is mega early for me! 2012 wasn't a great year workwise as I lost quite a bit of work but until I did the calculations I didn't realise how bad it was
. I'd saved money in my business account to pay my tax bill but in the end I didn't owe anything and am due a very small refund! So I've used the money I'd put aside to make an OP on the mortgage instead which I did yesterday and am waiting for the online figure to update. Will report back then on what it is down to. As we're not on fixed rate any more we can make overpayments willy and nilly :rotfl:
New washing machine being delivered tomorrow as the one we had finally gave up but as it must be almost 20 years old it doesn't owe us anything at least.
Off to bed now as up early tomorrow. Night all.0 -
New washing machine arrived and installed :j. Decided to tackle the washing mountain slowly until I get used to the machine as technology has really moved on since we last bought a WM - its got an LED display for a start and a huuuge drum . As the forecast was for a few sunny hours yesterday I picked an 'economy' programme :money:and put bedding on. Almost 3 hours later the programme finished and yes you've guessed it, I stepped out to hang the washing and the promised rain started so beat a hasty retreat and wet washing hanging everywhere. Will NOT be using that programme again .
Did a Mr A shop and managed to forget various things but unusually am off work for the next two days so :eek:will be able to get them up the street. Monday is normally my busy day but I only had one meeting booked and they rescheduled so can catch up with things round the house .
OH caught the MOP bug from me and matched my OP from my business account so the mortgage now stands at £12, 462 :j.
Need to take some soup out of the freezer for tomo as will be at home. My sis gave us a load of veg someone gave her but she coukldn't use it. Had some celeriac in it so along with celeriac mash - yum, made celeriac, fennel and orange rind soup which is rather good [HFW recipe].
Am sure there is more but really tired this eve and can't think what! Have a good week everyone and stay safe in this weather. Teapot, x0 -
No further OPs to report but must try and bag up some change to pay in at some point. Been quite busy since last post and had weekend away with girls which was good fun and saved for. Also been in hospital for some tests and had a GA - no results yet.
Been some wild weather up here, slates came off our neighbours roof on Sunday - luckily his car wasn't there at the time. Fingers crossed our roof seems ok, [we are semi detached].
Had a day off today and did a big washing which I hung out for while but it was being blown off the line so brought it in before I went out for lunch. Bathroom and wet room cleaned, hoovering done and floors washed. OH is away for a couple of days but back tomorrow so made some mince and tatties for him.
Lunch out with sis which was v nice. First place we tried was full up so we went elsewhere. Its a cafe in a nursery [plants] and has a walled garden so not too windy. We sat by a window which had a bird feeder stuck on the outside. So ate lunch watching all the birds feeding too - lovely. Visit to a farm shop after.
Think our resident robin is finding the weather a bit much. He spent most of Sunday under a bush in the garden to keep out of the wind. Wee soul.
Just remembered there is quite a bit of washing up so better head off and do it - don't like leaving it overnight.

Hope tests come back ok, teapot. No idea what GA is but hope not too serious.
Our resident back garden robin seems to have disappearedDid see one in the front garden so I'm hoping he's just relocated

Hi Poppy and thanks - GA = general anaesthetic [hope I've spelt that right]. Been very tired all week so not sure if thats down to being in hospital or summat else
'Our' Robin usually patrols the back garden when he's not sheltering under the bush but I did see him round the front a few days ago. Theres a tree with berries and he was pecking up the berries on the ground which the squabbling starlings were dropping from the tree. I know it was him because he has one white feather down his right hand side.
Hope all going well with you?0 -
WELL, where did the weekend go? Did some washing that had been hanging around all week. Was able to peg it on the line as it was a lovely day. Had an Amazon sale to post so did that [good sale, sadly not my book but one I was selling for a friend]. Went for a coffee with OH as not seem him much as he was away and then I'd beeen at work. We had a chat about what he wants to do for his upcoming significant b'day so I'm a bit clearer about that. Then we went to Mr A and stocked up for the week - rock and roll . Came back and did some tidying up in the garden. Still more to do but almost filled the wheelie bin.
I reached payout on yougov so pleased with that and done a couple of surveys since. Think I might be near payout on onepoll but can't do any surveys as the site just gets a blue screen on it if I try to go in. If they email me a survey link I can do it but when I try to go to account overview it blues out . Need to get round to contacting them about that.
Today did various catching up bits - cleaned the car which seems to have become a source of target practice for the seagulls - what a mess . Did a bit more washing which didn't really seem to dry at all.
Hoovering done and wet room cleaned. Cat sick x 2 cleared up, think he just ate too fast. Made an aubergine bake that will do for the next couple of meals [no connection with previous sentence :rotfl:]. Was going to make some bread but ran out of steam. Did some invoices for work this evening and caught up on work emails.
Off to bed now so have a good week all0 -
:jsmall leap in the air and pirouette [not really] our mortgage is now £10999.99 so while its not down to £10k there is a '10' at the front of the total :j. Will be working on sorting out some OPs this week to get it down a wee bit further.
The weekend whizzed by very quickly again and a heavy day at work today. However, my meeting in the morning has been cancelled so am off tomo and was off Wed anyway .
Am hoping for some decentish weather as its been so windy here for a few days. Think all the warm, sunny weather is down south. Got a book sale to post and some money to pay in to the business account so will probably head out for a while and need a haircut at some point if I can get an appt. Also plan to make some butternut soup and maybe some bread.
Did quite a bit of decluttering over the weekend so would like to do more - loooooooonng way to go with that.
Flowers in the garden survived the blustery wind and are looking very cheery- quite spring like out there.
OH is in bed and snoozing away - the cat is behind the curtain watching for interlopers in his garden and has also fallen asleep as I can hear him snoring, bless. Guess I'd better join him - OH that is and not the cat :rotfl:0 -
Whizzing in for a quick update....... YouGov payout hit my account so did an OP which OH matched so we are £100 down on the mortgage total above.
Also contacted Onepoll as could see I'd reached £40 payout but couldn't claim it. They suggested using a different browser -doh why didn't I think of that? Anyway it worked so that should arrive in the next month too :j
Met a friend for a blether after work and also posted an Amazon sale. Put some decluttered stuff on Freecycle and someone coming to collect it tomorrow night hopefully.
Remembered where the weekend went, got a phone upgrade and spent ages fiddling with it. Can text, make calls and send emails [all sort of] but still lots I haven't worked out how to do or I look online and then forget what to do!!
Feels really cold tonight, hope its not icy in the morning. Off to bed - now where did I put my bed socks :cool:0
