Cut the grass on Thursday for the first time this year - the forecast was for lots of rain on Friday so thought I'd better go for it even though I was a bit cream crackered after work. Looks a lot better now I must admit - at least the weeds in the grass are chopped down and don't show as much
.
While I was having a cuppa our neighbour came over to say a lower estimate had arrived for rebuilding the fence that blew down so we've agreed to go for that as its £500 each cheaper than the most expensive one!!!
Did lots of washing today and changed bedding as it was a lovely morning but that didn't last and it got cloudy, windy and cold as the day went on but at least the washing dried. Think theres a north-south divide with the weather this BH weekend and guess which side of the divide we are in ??? Had planned to do a bit of weeding this affy but too cold bbrrrr.
Made some bread and tidied round a bit. Am tackling my desk of doom bit by bit and pile of paper by pile of paper - lots to shred and recycle.
Forgot to mention last time that we'd made an overpayment - £500 each as the money was sitting in our respective accounts not earning anything. The online banking bit with the mortgage info didn't seem to update the total which was a bit confusing. It showed the OP but the total stayed the same until the next mortgage payment came out when it updated. We are now at £22,144 and OH wanted to make another OP to get down into the £21000s so I did that today online but don't suppoe it'll show up until after the BH.
Going to have a chippy tea tonight courtesy of OH who is also on a mission to find bargain loo rolls at the co-op :rotfl:.
In food related news going to garden centre tomorrow as need some bits for garden and feeding birds but also they are doing a BOGOF on breakfasts at the cafe there :T. Will go to Mr T after to stock up as fridge a bit bare. Will see what the weather is on Monday and maybe head for the seaside - like everyone else no doubt! Have a good BH weekend all0 -
I think we must be smack in the middle of the North/South divide ~ one minute it's lovely & sunny, the next it's cold & windy!! No rain though. We could do with some tbh as the soil here is all cracked, it's so dry. I used a garden fork to dig some over a little bit & it's dry quite far down & no worms for the birds to feed their young
Well done on the OPs :j You are so close to being in the teens now!! I did a £50 OP a week or so ago & was confused because the total went up £50 & then down £50 meaning my balance didn't change at all?! I haven't looked for a few days but if it's still the same I'll have to phone them. Maybe they're having teething problems with the new system.
I'll be sending my DH to the co-op tomorrow to look for the loo rolls ~ I'm presuming it's the BOGOF own brand you're going for. It's a good saving & I don't mind their own make anyway.
Hope you enjoyed your chippy tea & have a lovely BH'A watched potato will never chit'...0 -
Hi Poppy :hello:
we've had a lot of rain in the last few days but before that it was very dry and I was watering the pots on the decking. It was so chilly tonight we had the heating on from aboput 7pm
Glad you are still making OPs - I wonder if there are teething problems with the online mortgage info, I'll be interested to see if the total changes this time or we have to wait until the next mortgage payment comes out - I'll not be impressed with the new system if thats the case.
OH was successful in his loo roll mission. Yes they are the co-op own brand, up here at least this offer is only on this weekend. It was something like £4.25 [can't remember exactly] for 9 rolls and another pack free which is not bad.
Hope you enjoy the BH whatever you are up to :cool:0 -
Weather was quite good so had a trip to the seaside on Monday as planned but it was mega busy - the main street is really narrow there and it was packed so we just went for a coffee and a wander at the harbour.
Sold 3 books on Amazon over the weekend so went up the street today and posted them. Stocked up on stuff for the birds as well when I was out and had a coffee and a scone so not a NSD.
Really hot today so got some washing out and for the second day a bird dropped its load on it . Maybe I'm not feeding them enough.
Did a bit of weeding and tidying in the garden and planted some seeds in the propagator. No point in putting in plants in front of the fence as they'll just get trampled on when the new fence is put up. So I think I'll just put stuff in the pots on the decking, am going to put in night scented stock; poached egg plants, lupins, daisys and corn flowers - thats the plan so far anyway. Mind you I think that might be the end of the sunny weather here as the forecast is for strong wind and heavy rain .
Hali online mortgage info hasn't updated yet so will have another look tomorrow. Did some emails tonight and admin stuff and watched CSI. OH's birhtday tomorrow so am sneaking off to write his card. Got his poster framed and ready and we're going to a gig next week too. Am working tomorrow eve but we'll go out after for a drink. My friend also has her birthday tomo so we're going to meet up on Saturday for a meal out -.
Off to bed now - night all0 -
The online mortgage info finally updated on Thursday just as I was beginning to wonder if the payment had disappeared into the ether .
:j:jSo, pleased to say we are now down to £21,944 so getting closer to being in the teens but it does feel like a slow process however we will get there.
We went out for a meal last night with some friends, it was OH's birthday and friend's b'day on same day so a celebration for that. Also going out on Wed to a concert with OH as part of his pressie and staying over [free hotel] then going straight to work after breakfast. So been a spendy month and I need to rein [sp?] things in a bit and not do so much eating out. Been very nice though and good to catch up with friends.
I've got my annual review this week in one of my jobs so need to fill in the form for that today. It was lovely and sunny when I got up so stuck on a big washing to hang out however it has clouded right over and is looking rainy so not sure whether to hang it out or not.
Hope to also sort out some pots where the plants haven't survived the winter and get them ready for planting if the weather holds. Will do a food shopping on the way home from work tomorrow. My Monday afternoon work has been cancelledwhich is a pain as although I can claim a cancellation fee its a lot less than it would hae been.
Hope everyone has a good week0 -
Had my annual review at one of my jobs on Wednesday - seemed to go well, shouldn't be any surprises but am always glad when its over
. Met OH in town after and we went to see a band - the last of his birthday pressies, quick pub meal before - pouring rain so both v wet and sat steaming in the venue :rotfl:. Really enjoyed the band - xcellent evening.
Stayed in town with free hotel and then to work after b'fast. On way did some shopping @ Mr T as sister coming to lunch tomorrow.
Still cold here though its been sunny off and on - had the heating on for a while tonight brrrrr. Our new back fence is nearly finished so will have to pay our half but got money put aside for that. Lots of folk round here seem to be having work done on their houses/gardens so there must be some cash around???
Just watching a debate on TV between Nicola sturgeon and Micheal Moore about Scottish independence. Really not sure who to believe and am sure I'll be well scunnered with it in a few months.
Sold a couple of books on Amazon today so will need to get them parcelled up - nearly the weekend :j0 -
Gorgeous warm day yesterday - sis came to lunch and I made an asparagus and Gruyere flan thing and we had bits of bought salady things with it - yum. Sat outside having a cuppa and a good blether afterwards. Once she headed off I cut the grass and did a bit of weeding.
Today on the other hand  cold and very wet with lots of mist . what a contrast to yesterday - got the heating on its so chilly! OH gave me a lift to the PO when he was going to work so I posted my Amazon sales and did a bit of shopping at the bakers and butchers [the candlestick makers was shut :rotfl:]. Bought a pack of chicken thighs so will make a casserole for OH with those. As it was so wet had to take refuge in a coffee shop and have a tray bake too .
This evening did some admin bits and bobs and helped OH do an email which required diplomacy. Chippy tea and then did a bit of book listing on Amazon. Have also sorted out some clothes to put in the clothes bank tomorrow when we go to Mr A.
Managing to avoid Eurovision mostly - was watching J Ross instead but Lee Evans came on so had to switch off :rotfl:.
Off to bed when the cat comes backETA cat came back soaked through so dried him with some kitchen roll and he has gone even more fluffy than normal and looks a bit like a cartoon cat :-)

Hi MWC, PP, Tilly and SS :hello:
Went to Mr A this morning and hopefully got enough food for the week. Used a 10% cheaper thingy voucher which took it down to under £40 which is less than we usually spend for the week but there is quite a bit of food in the freezer so we should be ok I hope. Made a chicken casserole for OH so that will do him 2 days.
There was a heavy haar around for most of the morning but it had gone after lunch so I decided to tackle the grass edges which are very overgrown and the strimmer didn't really help last time so I got out the long handler cutters. The only thing with those is that I end up with the shakes after I use them - must be the chopping action I guess? :rotfl:
Looks much neater though and I've cleared a lot of moss and dead grass from next to the decking so once the new fence is finished the next job is to neaten up the border edges.
Also did some weeding and general tidying up then came in and fell asleep
This evening, long blether with friend on the phone and then sorted out stuff for work and did some emails.
Off to bed in a mo as up early tomorrow - have a good week all0 -
Oops really busy week last week with some extra work as a one-off
. Was then away at the weekend so just catching up with diaries and getting round to posting on mine!
Freezing here today and quite wet off and on - no very summery. The word of the day is 'dreich'!
In other news the cat had a fight - serious grabbing each other round the neck and rolling round the garden fighting. He got off quite lightly considering how much fur was lying in the garden . He had an eye infection and the vet found a bite in his ear but both have healed though the subsequent £50 hole in the joint account hasn't :rotfl:
Caught up with the washing pile today and cleaned the loos and hoovered round then shopping at Mr A so fairly stocked up I hope though I wandered round without a list which is never a great idea. I've sold 2 books on Amazon today so will post them before work tomo if the train is running on time.
Better get off to bed as it'll be a long day tomo - got an extra meeting after my usual work. Have booked a week off at the beginning of July as feel ready for a break and June will be quite busy.
N night all.0 -
