Ah well shame you had to endure the second pub before everyone saw sense
. I haven't looked at it yet as t'internet has been playing up but Blue Dragon has a website with recipe ideas according to the jar so will check that out.
I think everyone else must love cyclamen as there were none left at the garden centre . I got some lovely violas and a few wall flowers instead. I love violas too they cheer me up with their little 'faces'. Still on the look out for cyclamen as well. not planted them yet - cleared summer plants out and will put some new compost on the top and wait to see if I can get some cyclamen before I decide where to put what. Said in a quiet voice, not very MSE but got a new jacket when we were out - not had one for years and mine has gone all shiny and got a few holes, it looks a bit grotty for work. This is a nice warm one with a detachable lining. If we have a winter like last year [and I hope we don't ] I'll need it.
Only did a small shop today and will try to make meals out of the freezer and cupboards etc to do most of the week while I'm off work.0 -

Did you do it and make an overpayment? Its very addicitve I found but well done you. I haven't managed to do a spreadsheet yetI just scribble on bits of paper

Aww, shame about the cyclamen, hope you manage to get some. I love violas too, very pretty flower, I bought one a while back as it had my DD2's name.
I think your new coat was an essential purchase by the sounds of itSounds like it will be nice & toasty. I desperately need a new coat as my old one doesn't fasten any more
I hope we don't have another bad winter, but I think we might
Last year was awful, the snow just seemed to hang around for weeks, beautiful when it first appeared, but I soon got sick of it & driving conditions were horrendous ~ I would imagine it was even worse up North.
Yes I made my first overpayment:D:D £100 just to see if it worked ~ it did & I was pleasantly surprised that it showed the new balance the very next day. Intend making a bigger OP next week
Yep, I can see it becoming very addictive!! :rotfl:

Yes winter last year was bad - no trains for a week, they just didn't stop here and buses [if they were running] taking 3 times as long as they should. As theres only 1 an hour it would be a long wait . Really hope we don't get that again for such a long period. Still I have my new jacket
.
Well done on the OP, its such a good feeling to see the balance going down other than when the regular payment comes out. We're on £38636 at the moment after the DD on the 1st. I've just written to the Halifax to ask how much we can overpay next and we will get our annual statement this month too.
Off to make some sweet potato soup for lunch as it sunny but cold and definitely soup weather - got some soda bread to go with it yum0 -
That's a fab balance ~ can't wait to get down to that
I'm going to stick a butternut squash in the oven when the chicken's roasting (oops, just noticed the time so had better do it now!!) so that I can make soup for tomorrow ~ definitely soup weather here too.
Have you found any cyclamens yet?? I spotted some outside a fruit & veg shop yesterday, only small but very pretty. Actually their fruit & veg were really well priced so I'm going to start going there for stuff ~ got a big bag of freshly chopped cauli florets for 40p ~ lurve cauli & I'm going to stick some in the soup nomnomnom'A watched potato will never chit'...0 -
Thanks - we are constantly amazed that we've managed to get the balance down to that level.
Enjoy your soup - I've got enough left to do a couple of lunches I think. Roasted squash is lovely too, I've made risotto with it in the past and was very yummy.
No cyclamens yet but going to look tomorrow, then I can plant up the pots.0 -
Soup is on the go ~ bit annoyed with myself that I forgot to tell DH not to throw the chicken carcass away last night as I was going to use it for stock
Another online OP made this morning ~ the website said that 'the recipient hadn't acknowledged my funds' or words to that effect, so will wait & see what the balance is tomorrow. I'll let you know, just in case there's going to be a problem using the Halifax-Halifax 'payment' option in future. Hope not as it's so easy.'A watched potato will never chit'...0 -
Panic over ~ mortgage balance has come down overnight & I've knocked a month off the term :j Happy happy'A watched potato will never chit'...0

Doh to the chicken carcass but Hoorah to the OP :jI think it really helps when you can tell a certain period of time has been knocked off the end date by an OP and a month is a good chunk. Definitely helps with the motivation. So now you've started there'll be no stopping you
. I sometimes pick up 2p or 5p that folk have dropped and put it in my change pot which goes towards a mortgage OP. I wonder to myself how many seconds or minutes that knocks off the mortgage :rotfl:how sad am I [don't answer that

5p would knock 27 minutes off one of mine :whistle:A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0
