Joints are behaving themselves today, thank you ;)

I love the North West of Scotland too, we camped near Gairloch a couple of years ago ~ gorgeous, apart from the midges of course!! Really liked Poolewe & Inverewe Gardens as well & would love to go back there.

Btw, I was intending making my mortgage overpayments online from November (mortgage is with the Halifax but got current account with a different Bank). I'm sure I've read on here that you can do it online from a different Bank, as long as you have the mortgage sort code & roll number?? :)

Thats good re the joints - not great to wake up in pain :p.

The midges can be a nightmare in the summer up there - my mums family is from Sutherland, past Lochinver so thats where we normally go. Its a very different lanscape but spectacular and we stay right next to the beach so not too bad for the midge. I have been to Poolewe but not for a number of year - I really like Ullapool too.

Am not sure re overpayments online? Our current account is also with Halifax and theres no way to overpay via online banking but as they now have sort codes and actual account numbers as opposed to just a roll number for the mortgage account I don't see why you couldn't pay online from another bank?

Off to hang out a washing while its sunny :)

    Great in getting under 40K!!!!

And lovely and sunny here in the IOM ;-)

We have a TD, but I try to dry on the line every time I can and did some extra this week to make sure to use the good weather.

Thanks atush. Still sunny here in Scotland but rain forecast for Sat & Sun - boo. Love the smell of line dried washing - off to hang out some more

Pah and Pshaw where did the sun go? Been raining here, cold and now theres a haar come down. Have shut all the wondows and put my big cardie back on. Looked at the news and theres folk sunbathing on the beach down south .

Got a surprising letter from Halifax and not in a good way. They wrote to thank us for our 'part payments' and said they were going to reduce our monthly payments from 1st October as a result  Noooooooooooooo. Rang and spoke to someone who was very apologetic and said they shouldn't have done that as we hadn't asked them to and have written specifically to ask not to do that in the past. So it looks like reduced sum for one month and then back to usual amount from November. Although the guy was very helpful and seemed to know what he was talking about, I'll wait for the confirmation letter before I feel its definitely resolved.

Went out this morning - three Amazon sales to be posted :T. I should get listing some more this week. Also did a Mr A shop and a bit of stocking up.

Need to try and sort out some of the mountain of papers/rubbish/vital documents on the table as its getting out of hand. I can see the shredder will be red hot tomorrow.

Oh yes also watched the rugby this morning - shame it all went downhill in the second half :(:p
  • Weather has definately been corking down London way - barring the odd nice day it's been a darn side better here than for the whole of summer!

Did a post the other day but deleted it because it looked like gobbledegook after I tried to multi-quote!! :o

Anyway, was just saying how we camped right on the beach at Gairloch, covered myself in midge spray & the beggars still managed to get me!! :rotfl:

DH has been to Lochinver & Ullapool ~ he does a cycle ride with his pals every year ~ I keep hinting that I'd like to come along but no luck so far!! :(

That really annoys me about the Halifax ~ it's absolutely ridiculous that you can't make overpayments online from another Halifax account  I was having a look on their website the other day & I did wonder if it would be possible to make an online overpayment by using the 'recipient' option  I might try it come November as I have a Reward current account with them, otherwise I'll just try & make an OP from my non-Halifax current account ~ I'll let you know how I get on. Also annoying that they reduced your monthly payments instead of the term ~ they really don't want their customers to be free of their mortgages do they?! Hope it does get sorted next month.

We are down South (from you anyway ;)) & the weather has just broken this morning with some drizzly rain ~ yaay, I might be able to get to sleep tonight as it's just been too hot & stuffy the last few nights :p

Right, off to get a bacon butty (made for me by DH :D), hope you're enjoying the weekend & well done on the Amazon sales :)

LOL I can't multiquote either PP :o. I think stronger hints are needed re Ullapool and Lochinver - both well worth visiting though I may be biased. Don't think I could cope with permanently living any further north than Ullapool - not that thats on the cards, just gets too cold and dark in the winter .

Good luck with paying into your mortgage account - you are right strange how they don't want us to be mortgage free sooner :rotfl:

Been heavy heavy rain for hours but its finally stopped now but quite dark here. 'Our' robin is back in the garden singing his heart out and reclaiming his territory - he disappears every spring so I suppose this means its definitely autumn but he is back early this year, hope thats not a bad sign
    Have a good week, Teapot

Yikes horizontal rain today - not good and I think my jacket is losing its waterproof abilities . Nearly got hit by a restuarant advertising sign which was blown off its stand and up the road - its a dangerous world out there I tells ya :(.

Another book sold on Amazon and one on GM too [no idea which of the many boxes that will be in as helpfully I didn't add that into the description ah weel].

Had some green beans from the garden with my tea - they look a bit curly wurly but taste fine. Garden not been good this year, other than salad all thats been successful is the beans, radishes and possibly some beets though they look small. The weather was so awful I dont think the rest stood a chance which is a bit depressing.

Got a letter from Halifax saying they are going to restore the mortgage payment to the correct amount so hopefully that will work. Mortgage total not updated until tomorrow - don't they realise we are agog here? No Rewards gone in yet either....

Off to look for a book ;)

Got my £5 reward today & mortgage balance updated too ~ presumed the delay was because it was the weekend?!

I'm trying to persuade my DH to part with some of his books so that I can sell them on Amazon, but he's refusing so far ~ he's got hundreds!! :(

Yes, Rewards showed up here too :D.

Could you sneak a few of the hundreds of OH's books onto Amazon bit by bit - would he notice? :rotfl:. Its quite addictive I find and I've been selling for a few years. I'm only a very small seller but I've learned lots in that time. I see it as part of my income patchwork and its a bit of a Plan B in case other income disappears. Being self employed can be tricky so its good to have some options though I certainly couldn't live on what I make on Amazon currently.

Sold another book during the night and found the GM sale as well so all posted now.

Biting wind today - wished I'd taken my gloves out with me when I went shopping. Made some soup with roasted squash and yellow pepper as it definitely felt like soup weather.

Have reserved some lined blackout curtains in Argos which were 25% off so will collect them tomorrow when I go to work in the big city.

The car is in for its MOT while OH is away so fingers crossed it passes ok. Am off to bed didn't realise the time - night all
