Hmmmm... So it's just in her name, is it? Does that mean that she is the only person on the mortgage, or could her dad still be on there without holding an interest in the property?
If she's on her own on the mortgage, assuming that she was earning £14k when she bought the property 5 years ago and somehow managed to get a 5x salary mortgage that means £70k mortgage tops, but more likely less.
Santander's standard variable rate is currently 4.24%, and their mortgage repayment calculator comes up with a monthly repayment of £378.82pcm (based on a 25 year £70k repayment mortgage on SVR). Quite a profit margin while the rent was coming in...
Of course the mortgage could be for more if her dad or someone was on it too, but if she's really only on £14k she'll be bringing home about £965pcm, so it's unlikely to be much more or it would be unaffordable. Certainly nowhere near £1235pcm.0 -
Well now I know! Lol.
Thanks Pr1madonna.
Did anyone read if she had consent to let anywhere? I'm guessing in allll these pages it's been written somewhere.0 -

She'll have a tax bill for sure. I wonder if she has decalred her income for 09/10 yet. I think HMRC might know she has been active as a LL!Did anyone read if she had consent to let anywhere? I'm guessing in allll these pages it's been written somewhere.
Yes, according to the FB page, but nobody has seen any documents. Statement was due Friday, didn't appear. Video was due yesterday, didnt appear.
We now have to wait till Monday for the video that will allegedly show documents relatign to this sort of question0 -

Or maybe they will really sort out the issue once and for all by ordering a retraction thread be made...
Oh, wait?!0 -
ROFL! I don't think we could cope with TWO retraction threads!:rotfl::beer:0

If Ms Butler really does only have an official income of £14k per annum I suspect that there may be a trust fund around somewhere to cover the mortgage payments.0

Hi Nicola,
Thanks for your q's and comments.
Just a quick clarification, Carmen paid me 3 and a half months of the 6 month rental period plus a deposit of 1 month (which is still in the deposit protection scheme). By the time she finally lef...t, she owed me over £4,000 which I will unlikely ever see. She was presented a section 8 on the day the 6 month rental period ended. But for much time previous to this she was saying she would not be leaving or able to pay me. I extended her contract by 1 month in May, just before me and my son went to Spain where we were scouting for a rental property and school for him to relocate as we were launching a fundraising office for the charity i MD in Malaga. At the time, Carmen had been a great tenant, we got on well and she had not missed payments at this stage. June/July and August were unpaid. We needed to sign the extension in May as I would have been abroard when the original agreement ended.
I hope that helps a little.
The simple fact is. It is morally wrong for someone to be legally able to not pay you rent and refuse to leave your home breaching the contract and causing much upset. All we want to do is find a way encourage the law to evict more swiftly.
Have a great weekend, despite this weather!!
Seems to have disappeared again - good job you posted it here for posterity, WWH!0 -
So much for 'I saved up for years to buy this house'!0

I guess this is all the preamble to Suzy setting up her charity for the benefit of er, amateur ignorant landlords ?0
