Any recommendations?
Hi guestybody
Just to let you know £90 seems very cheap for a cat flap in glass also £270+vat seems a lot. As I work in double glazing repairs. I think for a cat flap in a set of double doors would be £220 all in and fitted. Average glass size for double doors would be 575w x 1800h toughend glass.0 -

The OP quoted £90, and I'm hoping for as cheap as poss. Even £139 also quoted seems pretty good, but my French door pane is quite small at 175cm x 37cm, so I think it should be a bit cheaper.
The only problem is that Jacksons is about 150 miles away, and even if they could make and deliver a pane, then I'd still have to find a local glazier to install it. I'll give them a call tomorrow to see if we can get it sorted.0 -

Just spoke to Julian at Jacksons, who seems knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He quoted £97+VAT collected for the pane. Looks like a good deal to me!

Hi
I need to have a cat flap fitted into a double glazed unit in a french door. The unit is, bar the frame, the entire door. Does anyone know of a good firm in Herts/Bucks/Beds?
Thanks0 -

Hi guestybody
the 2 quotes of £90 and £139 is this plus vat also supply only. The £220 i said would include cat flap, glass and fitting it would be around that figure0 -

If you can get the size of glass unit I can give you around about figure so you don't overpay a good local company should be able to help you out if you need any information I would be happy to help0 -
After discovering this thread I phoned Julian Walsh today enquiring after fitting a dog flap into a sliding patio door. I found him to be very knowledgeable, helpful and efficient. Not long after we spoke on the phone I received an email confirming details. Jacksons will be coming out to measure, fit and supply!
one shop service - great!

Hi all,
I got my cat flap done from a company the other day and everything is perfect and was no stress (maybe im just lucky) They come round and measured my glass and come back about a week later with the new glass and the cat flap and fitted it all perfectly. They said i can keep my old pane so if i ever moved etc i could just pop the old pane back in. i had a full glazed door and it cost me £195 whatever cat flap i choose. Overall im very happy.
I wont put there website on here as i dont think im allowed but they was called southeast cat flaps so if you search that in google they come top i think.
Good luck0 -
Of all the people who've ever tried to get a cat flap fitted, I must be the unluckiest. Having been conned by Colin Darrall, I contacted Easy 24hr Glazing. They sent a contractor, but after weeks of waiting for the glass to come in I finally gave up and cancelled the order. Then the drama of getting my money refunded began - dozens of calls before finally getting a refund several weeks on. See the other reviews on sitejabber - and steer well clear of easy24hrglazing.co.uk!!!
My third attempt was with A&E Glazing....who were brilliantCheap quote and installed within a week.
Moral of the story - don't get cats0 -
In the end I decided that driving to collect the glass from Julian at Jacksons in Manchester was a bit too much of a hike (~300 miles there and back), so hunted around for a more sensible deal.
I ended up dealing with Grovey1 (Jon) from this very forum, and I'm delighted to say that he did a great job at a great price. Not only was the the installation done very quickly and smoothly, but he provided great communications and I knew exactly what was happening at all times. The whole thing was done and dusted within a week, AND he took no money until completion.
:money:
He's also a thoroughly nice bloke too. Recommended!
