  • Just a quick note to say 'thank you' for the link for the WHSmith voucher - bought my book with it for £9 and have been baking away ever since (already showing on my waistline!).

Also, I've tried the recipe on Paul Hollywood's site and then another bread one on the BBC's make-shift-site for the programme and there was way too much salt! Plus as somebody else has already pointed out, PH says to mix it all together? The book doesn't say anything about putting a tray with water in the over, nor does it make any reference to salt getting into contact with yeast.

ps. Ed's cumin and fennel bread is wonderfully light and very tasty!
  • I've been watching this series via iplayer as i rarely watch tv and seem never to watch things on the night that they are on. I'm really enjoying the shows, haven't seen the final yet - but now know who the winner is cos i clicked on one of the web links in an above post ;-)

I email the PH site and they confirmed to mix the fresh yeast straight in.

1 tip I have learnt from PH, when you think you've added enough water add a bit more. It's changed my bread.
Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!

I loved this show, never had a real clear fav, liked a few of them.

I thought Paul talked over Mary a bit, as if he was the real expert, did anyone else think that?

Mary seemed to defer to him a lot.

I agree with you....I got the impression that he has rather a large ego. Never heard of him before this show and won't be all that concerned if i don't again, but Mary Berry is class and though quieter in demeanour, has more experience of baking matters by far. He did have rather lovely eyes though, though he looked like he knew it.
