Ford Focus 1.6 - 145 mph!!!!!
Whilst walking around our local "Chav haven" this lunchtime, I fear that I may have overheard a relation of one of the posters on here.
A couple of young gentlemen (?) were walking behind me, and one said to the other, in a rather splendid Estuarine dialect:
"I woz bommin' daan the mo'way last night, an' I got it up to 145 in 6th wiv the cruise control on. It woz well mental"
"Not the Focus"
"Yeah man, the 1.6, wiv a ST exhaust on it"
So from this, all I can surmise, is that all you need to go 30 mph faster is a sports exhaust, preferably one which has not been designed for your car.
As soon as I get the word on the street, on how to modify a 2.5 Mondeo, so that it will do 170 mph, I shall report back.

Some cars have standard speedometers that cater for all models in the range. Generally the older the car the less accurate the speedo reading. For instance I had a Golf GTi about 20 years ago. Top speed was 119 mph and I got a reading of 140 on a downhill stretch of an autobahn. The man without a signature.0

If I was there I would of turned round, and say that unlike the lies about his Focus, my Focus will actually go 145 mph, lol.
Wonder what his face would of been like.0 -
