I did actually agree to a point. Its just that greed set in and the crims have spoiled it for the rows of shops you are talking about. Now they will have to find another solution. Don't blame those who hate clampers, they would not have done so had the charges not become totally disproportionate to the ""crime"".
What I have said that clamping is / was an effective solution for a lot of people, just as posts are for some, barriers for others, clamping was for those who chose it.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
Why don't they just introduce fair and transparent charges, say £50 for clamp removal, £100 tow away fee and £1 per hour for storage, then use the licence fees from the clampers to set up an independent appeals process.
Businesses could then be required to put up standard signs (1 per howevermany spaces) saying something simple and universally recognisable like "Customers/Permit Holders Only - Clamp/Tow Away Zone", then drivers know exactly what the signs mean, there would be no need for small print because it would be set down in law and businesses would have a viable way of managing their carparks. Barriers aren't viable unless you can afford to pay somebody to man it.I've given up trying to get my signature to work with the new rules, if nobody knows what the rules are what hope do we have?0 -
What's to stop businesses putting chain barriers across all their spaces, leaving them down and when an unauthorised car parks there they just put the chain across?I've given up trying to get my signature to work with the new rules, if nobody knows what the rules are what hope do we have?0

Just been to my local Asda supermarket and the car park has just been re-done. There are numerous signs saying if you park for more than 3 hours, your vehicle will be clamped!! I suppose they were a big fat waste of money!! :T:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

You are blocking access, as you are blocking the vehicle from exiting, so then it is the landowner that will be punished and the council could be called to remove the chain or barriers.0 -

They should have put posts on each of the spaces.
Or dug the car park up to put a barrier system in.
Silly Asda, not wanting people to abuse their car park and leave cars there all day.

IMO the signs are not needed. My nearest Asda is in the middle on nowhere, I can't think of any reason why somebody would park there and leave their car all day (unless they were really slow shoppers!):heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:
