MSE News: Wheel clamping to be banned on private land

I've never been clamped, towed or ticketed! Only because I've never done anything (in their opinion) to be clamped, towed or ticketed for.0

"most have been clamped." (from liam8282)
Have most people on this thread been clamped?
Where did you get that evidence?
I never tried to pass it off as evidence, merely what an anti clamping poster wrote.
If you read the thread, look at Bashy post #287
"Most folk here didnt mind clamping or tickets, No one was after a so called free ride, What you do see in here are many folk who been ripped off or helping those who are being ripped off.
And i say again most have had a ticket and gone far cop i was late,Didnt put enough money in, Thought i be ok for 2 mins while pop into shop etc etc,Done it myself paid the ticket didnt want to get out of it i was wrong."0 -
Using the same bigoted logic as used by the posters who call all clampers scum etc, that should equally mean that every single person that parks on private land without permission is also scum and they have no excuse for their actions.
I have never defended cowboy clampers etc.
I am just shocked at how twisted and bitter some people on this thread are, that they class every single clamper, or anybody who dares to agree that some did a worthwhile job for that matter, as scum or an idiot.0 -

Another similar post, taffy056 #288
"No matter how much you try and back up the clampers, they are going end of story, they have stitched themselves up, they use extortion to force people to give them money, unlike other industries having a few bad eggs, the clampers have a huge majority of bad eggs, they deserve to go out of business."
A clear distinction between the good and the bad, even if there was only 1 good clamper, you are all wrong to calling all clampers scum etc........0 -
the clampers have a huge majority of bad eggs, they deserve to go out of business.
What was this comment based on?
I will give a rough calculation for you based on information from this site. I will even do it in favour of most clamping companies being cowboys.
3,000 clamping co's, 650 legitimate registered.
So 650 good.
2,350 left, say 70% cowboys, 1,645.
So out of 3,000 companies, 1,645 bad, 1,355 good.
Hardly the huge majority made out. It just means 1,355 legitimate companies are being punished for the others actions.
Yes, ban unregistered companies, make registering compulsory, make strict limits...... But to ban all companies IMO, is wrong.0 -

So 650 good. good? based on what?
2,350 left, say 70% cowboys, 1,645. why 70% not 10% or 100%?

Hardly the huge majority made out. It just means 1,355 legitimate companies are being punished for the others actions. Using figures and made up variations of them doesn't really work

If would appear the government of the day disagrees with you.0 -

Based on the fact they were registered and practicing according to the government guidelines.... The government you have just quoted as being right all the time.
But I guess they are only right when they do something you agree with?

As I said I choose 70% as it puts the majority of the unregistered companies as cowboys. It is a rough estimate, as I said.
It can be used to be completely biased either way, but I choose this figure to be fair.

It does give a better and fairer indication, rather than people making totally unjust comments with no basis at all.
The figures also originated from this site, I have just given my interpretation of them. If you really think it is way off the mark, that is your opinion.

The government disagrees with me, I disagree with the government banning all clampers. That is the beauty of a democratic society, I still have the right to my opinion. I can still enter into a discussion, on a thread which is meant for a discussion on the topic.

Now that everybody has had there lengthy rants on clampers, does anybody actually have anything to say about the people who park on private land without permission, and what to do about them?
After all it is those people that are the source of this whole problem.
Now that clamping is banned etc, should parking on private land be made a legal matter rather than civil, so that people can actually do something enforceable about it?0 -
It seems there is only one person making multiple lenghty rants at the moment. A person who goes into fits of outrage whenever clampers are rightly called scum or vermin. But of course has nothing whatsoever to do with the soon to be ex-industry.
Clampers need to get over it. This particular gravy train is leaving the station and they are no longer on it. Rather than making any cogent arguments they appear to have clamped nurses and threatened MPs.
There must be other occupations that are suited to their unique combination of extremely low intelligence and pie derived brawn. And the world will continue as before, except decent people will no longer need to worry about this gang of mutton heads hiding in bushes waiting to pounce.0
