Well how did i know!! You didnt say till your last post, The posts are just idea in general, may not be ok for you, i didnt say they were, Dont scream because you have not found way to control your parking as yet but the posts could i say COULD work for many

Ok, posts are a good idea in certain circumstances, but they are no solution to many situations and there just isn't a solution to a lot of problems people face with regards to parking.

After all, I am just saying they won't work for many, just as you are saying they will.

I am at a complete loss to suggest a response which would appear to be acceptable to you within the narrow parameters of your above requirements.
Other than the discredited, & soon to be outlawed, clamping by PPC's, there is no 'instant quick fix solution'.
Any solution requires some work, by someone, somewhere along the line.

Have you any ideas of your own which you would care to share?
    (other than clamping).

Make an enforceable punishment against people parking on other peoples property?

Don't ask me what this punishment would be or how it would be enforced though?

Make it illegal to park on private property without permission?

I think I will nominate the clamping industry this year for the Darwin Award. A prize given to those who render themselves extinct due to their own stupidity.

More than once this villainous business was warned that they were drinking in the last chance saloon. Did they listen? No, the thick-as-planks goons were too busy clamping patrons' cars out back.

They even threatened a MP last month:

    http://www.echo-news.co.uk/news/8271655.Clamper_threatens_to_block_MP___s_driveway/

Probably every MP has received complaints at one time or other about the activities of these bully boys and so they will have no support when the legislation for their outlawing is placed before Parliament. Dumb but hardly unexpected given the calibre of individual we are dealing with.

As to the options for private parking post-clamping the options have been well discussed in this thread. It will be up to each landowner to consider what works for them. If they do nothing and stand on the sidelines carping about the loss of clamping (which will never return) then they cannot be expected to be taken seriously. the same scenario was played out in Scotland 20 years ago when clamping was by all accounts very successfully outlawed practically overnight.

There will no doubt be some who lose out financially as they received a kickback from the nefarious activities of the clampers on their land. Hopefully it will be a release for these people to no longer owe a part of their living to their agents causing misery to others and they will be able to replace this tainted revenue with activities having a more social purpose.

Unless the government run clamping firms, such as the council etc. are allowed to branch out to cover the gap in the market to cover private land?

Not such an absurd idea if you think about it, rather than chirp on about how much you hate clampers.
  • Far better to get real and grasp what has happened here and prepare for the consequences rather than hold out for things which will never happen, like clamping being introduced by the back door or the ridiculous suggestion that unauthorised parking be made "illegal". Personally I think certain clampers are so lawless that they will simply carry on for a time but there will be jailings and it will then end for good. In 5 years time I am sure that people will struggle to remember that this kind of semi legalised mugging was ever allowed to happen. Some clampers will get into issuing "bogus tickets" as the RAC rightly refers to them but that scam has a limited shelf life too and the PPCs know it.

In the end it will come down to a simple choice for landowners who have a genuine as opposed to artificially generated parking problem. Either they secure their land using many of the well documented and discussed methods available or they decide it is not such a big priority after all and do nothing.

Posts are not a practical option in this situation, just because you say they are does not make it so, end of story.
Conversely, just because you say they are not does not make them so. Either you put up with parking problems or take some action to sort them. A barrier is a cheap cost effective method. Exactly the same way a burglar alarm, bars across windows, and a shutter over the doors are all cost effective methods at preventing vandalism and theft. If we take your ignorant stupid pointless argument to its logical conclusion, noone would have burglar alarms, fire alarms, doors, locks, windows and so on.

Quit your pointless moaning unless you have a specific issue or problem that affects you.
  • My buibing and forecourt are Grade 2 listed so NO barriers of any type permitted by the conservation officer, as soon as the law is changed I shall find his address and park on his driveway, see how he likes it.
  • S*d you as well, If you ever turn up and abuse my property there will definitely !"£$%^&*()_+.
Why must I have ignorant public scum prevent me using my own propery to make a living, why MUST I put a barrier, even if it were allowed. A denial of service attack on this site would be exactly the same principle, prevent someone else earning a living out of sheer bloody ignorance, I hope the clampers charge £500 a minute until this law expires, and I hope the ignorant suffer, ignorance is no defense, arrogance is worse.
  • I hope the ignorant suffer, ignorance is no defense, arrogance is worse.

    oh the sweet irony!

As far as I can see, clamping was originally an idea which could have been good but human greed and avarice took over. From being a means of deterrent it became a license to print money. Had the criminal element not taken over then Lliam and others would still have their clamps so don't blame anyone else for their demise. Ask the crims how to protect your property as they effectively caused the removal of clamps.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
  • Part of the blame must lie with the government and police who allowed blatent robbery to be considered a 'civil matter'.
