I give up. It's time for bed. You anti clampers can't see the wood for the trees. I suspect some (a lot?) have been clamped and possibly deserved it ;-))

Couldn't go before replying to this.
SELF REGULATION DOESN'T WORK Ooops.... shush. It doesn't work for oil companies, it doesn't work for farmers, it doesn't work for supermarkets or the finance houses. It certainly doesn't work for $£&£$ politicians. Only legislation, enforced legislation, works.... gnite

Exactly, Talent, the only people I've ever known that have been clamped are the type that end up taking out PPI and actually paying bank charges. Fool and his money and all that.....

Really? Most cases I have heard about are innocent victims of a SCAM:

    Nurse's car clamped

    Another nurse's car clamped

    Carer's car clamped

Vehicles stranded by snow get clamped

    ASBO against thug clamper

    Pregnant driver gets car clamped

which is why the government have acted. At last! :T
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Anti-clampers don't need to prove anything now. The battle is won. Yes the gloating is there but that's only natural when you have a whole scam industry put out of business in one fell swoop. The simple fact is that clampers with their greed and venal behaviour have seen off their own disreputable industry. It was always likely this would happen as the combined intelligence of these goons has always been measured in planks.

Here's the solution many landowners will use......

Buy an old banger, make sure it's not reg'ed of traceable to you. Then simply park it very badly in the car park and oh dear you appear to gave accidentally blocked in a rogue Parker. What a shame I guess the trespassed will just have to wait an hour or four until the badly parked car driver returns.

In essence there might be a law against clamping on private land but I can't see one against bad parking lol.

That is kind of like a cowboy clamper trick though isn't it, something the people on this thread are supposed to be against.

Also I am sure there are laws against owning untraceable cars.

Further more, blocking access to / from, is still something that the police / council deal with, so the blocking vehicle could still be towed.

Except that we do actually own the land, and pay for its upkeep, so not sure what your point is in using that example?

Good. So the scum landowner can be sued at the same time as the scum clamper.

erm, if its untraceable then they will not know who owns. Hence why he said it ...

i think you should give this up liam.. Most people are happy to see clamping go because people were getting ripped off left right and centre, and people will find a way to control parking again...

even we have but i noticed non of the mighty brigade on here were giving any suggestions - but i do fear that the problem will still exist in places that need fire access..

Suggestions have been given, they have been dismissed by some people.

Clamping is not and was not the answer

I am still reading this thread with interest.

I initially came on here to ask a simple question and give my opinion.

Nobody has, as yet, managed to answer my simple questions, with a workable solution for all situations.

Instead, I have been insulted for having a differing opinion and I have been called a clamper because I choose to defend my self against several abusive posts.

The level of the posters on this thread is disgraceful, calling all clampers scum, calling people idiots for not agreeing with them, etc....

The thread is completely one sided, and if anybody dares to have a differing opinion to the majority, they will just be insulted constantly in an effort to silence them.

I still await an answer to a simple question:

What is going to be done about all of those that park without permission on private land?
