  • Copy hasn't arrived yet so I'm caving in and ordering a curry tonight - blaming it on the hubby who has curry cravings. I'm going to be good and just have shashlik and a naan as I'm counting the calories. Hope the book arrives soon!
  • We finally made the Doner tonight and I was a little disappointed. I think that perhaps my sainsburys lamb mince was just too lean (or i cooked it too long) as it was very dry compared to that of a takeaway. Will try with Tescos mince next time. I also made the salad and two sauces and these went down very well.

We made the cookies last week and have just finished off the batch i had frozen and they were really yummy:drool:
  • oh just bought this book from ebay, sooo excited to try the recipes, but it was free post and estimates 6-8days delivery :(
One day I will live in a cabin in the woods
  • Made the donner kebab tonight - fabulous!! And so easy! Son and hubby had two - wish I'd made double quantity now! Made the salad and red sauce too - both great, though only put in about quarter of the onion into the salad - it said a huuuuge quantity.

Even if I don't make anything else, it was worth buying the book for just the kebabs!

I've bought the things to make the sausage and egg muffins today (and bacon for mine - I don't like s&e ones).

Does anybody know, is it best to make the sausage bits first, then freeze, then defrost, then cook?

Or is it better to make them, cook them, freeze them then defrost and warm up?

Only there's a lot of pork mince for one person. Or should I freeze the pork mince in patty-sized portions and then make them when I need them?
I make the burgers up and freeze them raw, then cook from frozen.

I open freeze them separately so they don't stick together then put them all in a bag and you can just lift out however many you need. It's very handy having a supply of burgers in the freezer just ready to cook. Too handy perhaps, DH has had a sausage and egg muffin every day this week. :D

Thanks, anguk, I'll see how the OH likes the one tomorrow and then make the rest. There's going to be a lot of burgers in the freezer ;o)
  • I had a go at the southern fried chicken tonight - for some reason I was expecting it to be KFC style and whilst it was nice, it wasn't KFC nice!
  • Oh wow! We just had these! We vote NEVER to go back to McDonalds again!!! It was lovely!!! We have 6 more patties frozen... wonder how long they will last! I even bought hash browns and cooked them in the oven, they were so crisp we just loved them too!!!!
