I'm attempting a chicken doner kebab for us tonight with naan bread and kebab sauce - chicken marinading, sauce in fridge and naan proving as we speak - yum. For DS I'm going to do chicken nuggets. He's 13 but doesn't do spicy stuff at all so nuggets it is. I made southern fried chicken last week. Although nice, it didn't taste like KFC I didn't think. It need more of something (though don't know what)
Got pork mince too so going to try the breakfast sausage. Thanks for the heads up on the sugar. I don't actually like sage as a herb but I'll give it a bash.
I thought that too about the kfc style chicken so in the interests of research I had a proper KFC and I'm pretty sure the missing element is chinese 5 spice so I got some and put some in and it was much better. I used the same amount as the onion powderI didn't say it was your fault, I said I was going to blame you

:T I'm not making egg mcmuffins, but you have just solved my 'what can I use as a cookie cutter so I don't have to buy one' conundrum.
So thank you! :beer:0 -
mrs_mix thanks for that. I have 5 spice in the cupboard so I'll give it a bash
I made chicken doner kebab tonight and chicken nuggets. Both were lovely! The chicken doner I tried to char a bit and ended up burning my griddle but the taste was very authentic. DS loved the chicken nuggets too. He said he preferred them to the KFC style.
All in all I don't think I've had a failure yet. My nan bread was truly authentic tonight too.Grocery Challenge M: £450/£425.08 A: £400/£.May -£400/£361 June £380/£230 (pages 18 & 27 explain)0 -
