That was absolutely yummy, everything was spot on. This morning my son cooked the bagel with omelette, which was very nice. Tonight we had the whopper of a burger with chips (made in the actifry) and coleslaw (our own homemade) and again it was lovely.
I have also tweeted photos to Kenny McGovern and he has made some nice comments. My son was particularly pleased that he was complimentary about his bagel this morning
I saw your pics and they look brilliant! The coleslaw looks especially yummy. I wondered if you would mind sharing the recipe?

Thanks :j
The coleslaw was just a case of bung it all inI think it was finely sliced round cabbage, finely chopped red onion and grated raw carrot. Mix it all up with some Mayo and it's done :T

Hi
I've only just discovered this thread tonight - I've read the 1st 3 pages and bought the book for my kindle for £1.48!!!!! Couldn't see the point in buying 'the real thing', even though I love real books more, when there are no photos.
About to log off and start reading:D
Hope we like what's in there

I am sure you will.
I made the Lamb doner kebab, white kebab sauce and the pitta salad - we're all stuffed and loved it! Next time I'll cook it for a shorter time though as put it on a rack so the fat could drain away and it was a little bit dry.
It wasn't quite like our takeaway but I had left the salt out and increased the herbs and spices to compensate - dh had a heart attack last year:( and we haven't had kebab since then!
I did the numbers and this was actually a reasonably healthy meal - used low fat ingredients for the sauce and the amount for 1 portion was enough for all four of us. The amount of saturated fat was at the very low end of 'medium' which he's allowed as his chlorestrol(sp?) is low, salt and sugar were very low - so all in all a massive success in our house:D
Think I'll have a go at chicken noodle soup tomorrow - I love that.

Just think what it was like when you used to zap your takeaway kebab meat, there would be quite a bit of fat on the plate.
There is hardly any on the plate when you reheat the takeaway secret kebab meat.
Glad that you liked it.
I still have to read my follow up book that I bought the other week, still not got around to it.0 -
Urgh sb44, I'd forgotten about that, it used to be gross! Still ate it mind:o
So far today I have made the chocolate cheesecake - it's currently chilling in the fridge, don't know how long I'll be able to resist;) and choc chip cookies:undecided
Like some others that have posted (I finished reading the whole thread last night:o) I'm having trouble with these - if I cook them for 10 mins underneath is raw, not just soft, actually raw.:(
I have cooked 2 x 4 and the 2nd batch I cooked for 15 mins, turned oven off, left them for 5 mins in warm oven then put them on a rack and they were a lot better but they haven't 'spread' - possibly the reason that the underneath didn't cook 1st time.
Also my uncooked mix is very gooey. I had read a previous post about rolling it in cling film or foil so managed that fine, chilled it for a couple of hours but still struggle to cut it etc but have only used half, the other half is in the freezer so hopefully cutting it will be easier tomorrow.
Any hints and tips for these would be much appreciated,I've never made cookies before - I had hoped for something like Subway's cookies, mine look like 'posh' normal ones iyswim. They do taste scrummy though!!
