Tesco have little jars of the onion powder with their own brand spices - 98p I think. I looked for some in our local asian supermarket (got all the other stuff in the recipes very cheaply) but couldn't find the onion powder ther. Anyone know if it's generally available in asian grocers??

I've looked in Asian grocers too & never seen it, I think the best value for money is the ebay link mentioned above :)

sb, that looks & sounds amazing! :T

I'm going to make it on Friday, can't wait  ... I love the smell of spicy food cooking :D

I'm off to make the spice mix now

Did you make the Shoarma, Swan?
  • Just made the donner meat for tea (first time, so fingers crossed), but washing my hands after squishing it all together has been a nightmare!

It's the first time I've had to wash my hands with swarfega whilst cooking! Anyone else had this problem, or have I just done something very 'special' to the mixture?:o

Mine had never heard of it!

I bought some from a health food shop, then found some in a Chinese Supermarket.

Try putting it in a plastic food bag and squeeze it etc through the bag.

    ;)

yes :) I made it at the weekend & it was excellent, everyone loved it & they want me to make it again (with extra chilli next time :D)

I had some pork fillet in the freezer so I used that & added some chopped onion & a green pepper
I cooked it on the George Foreman & it looked great, really professional, but it all got scoffed before I could get a pic! I'll get in first next time ;)

a big thanks from all of us sb :T

That's great, glad that you liked it.

I did the same when I first made it, with onions and peppers and I think I had some spare mushrooms as well that I chucked in.

I had bought a pack of those tiny pittas from Tesco so we used those as that is how I used to eat it.

Lots of lovely garlic sauce all over, lovely!

I will have to make up another batch of the mix as I am running low.

Surprising what good recipes you can find on the net!

    :D

Tonight I'm making the chicken tikka pieces and having them in pittas with salad and the red and white kebab sauces. I can't wait!!
