Would anyone be kind enough to post the ingredients of the korma?
I bought this book, but living on an island I was struggling to find some of the ingredients, now I am on the mainland for shopping trip, I got creamed coconut, but went and left the book at home and cant remember the other ingredients (think I will need the basic curry ingredients if there is anything out of the ordinary as well).

1 lg skinless boneless chicken breast (around 4 oz weight)
1/2 tsp veg oil
1/2 tsp , garlic & ginger paste
1 tsp tomato puree
1 tsp lemon juice,
3 tbls coconut powder,
2 1/2 fl oz sgl cream ,
You also need for Basic Curry Sauce
1 1/2lb peeled spanish onions chopped.
1/2 green pepper,
garlic & ginger paste,
2tbls tomato puree,
1 tsp coriander powder,
1tsp cumin powder,
1tsp turmeric powder,
1/2 tablesp garam masala,
lg hadful fresh coriander leaves & stalks,
200 g tinned chopped toms,
25 g creamed coconut block
Personally I would get more chicken, as you will be buying larger quantities of the spices, so will have enough to make more than 1-2 portions & can freeze the rest.
Do you want any of the other ingredients which are common in other recipes - done them anyway lol
Dried Fenugreek leaves crop up in a few of the curry recipes, as does chilli powder, cayenne pepper, Madras curry powder, paprika (1tbls mango chutney is in another)
With the above ingredients (+various meat, you can do 99% of the recipes)0 -

I made the lamb Tikka jalfrezi tonight but used chicken instead of lamb. It was deeeeelish!! Next time I'm going to make the chicken tikka pizza and have them as kebabs with the red and white sauces.0

I saw this book in our library yesterday. perused it as I knew it was popular on MSE.. have to say I didnt see much in it of any value - very cheaply porduced,no pix, just the bog standard stuff like kebabs etc which you can find in most cook books or pretty much guess how to make anyway . fair play to him tho with the money hes made from MSE folks..What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0

i think the point of the book is to allow you to recreate the flavors of your favourite takeaway at home.... but each to their own..0

Reverbe - the book is fab, the recipes are spot on for the flavours he is trying to recreate and thats the point, i can have a "doner" and cook enough for 4 for less than the price of one from a dodgy van,
it appeals to the MSE side of me and as all i've tried are that scrumptious i'm happy i got it.Nonny mouse and Proud!!

Ok, you find a book and post a link showing how to make Doner Kebabs like ones you get from a takeaway.
I am sure everyone who has made them from The Takeaway Secret book will agree that they've never found that recipe elsewhere.
Get a move on with your next book Kenny, I can't wait to buy it.0 -
I agree that the book would be better with pictures but it costs less than £4, if it had pictures and was more high quality it would probably cost more than £10.
You can probably find other cookbooks with similar recipes but I've been unable to find anything that re-creates takeaway food so authentically. I've got stacks of cook books, everything from Delia to Good Housekeeping and many of them have recipes for a good curry or gourmet burger but sometimes my family just fancy a BigMac or a Donner kebab or an Indian takeaway and The Takeaway Secret comes closest to replicating that.
I hope the author has made plenty of money from MSE folks because he's spent a lot of time and effort recreating the recipes and many of us are more than happy with our little £3.66 book.
I reckon if it was big & glossy and called Jamie's Takeaway Secret and had a picture of Mr Oliver tucking into a donner kebab on the front it would fly off the shelves at £15.Dum Spiro Spero0
