Oh thanks nibs, will def try that n might increase the other spices too.
Did the veg pakora today with leek, spring onion, small potato n bit of broccoli (basically all the lonely old veg in my fridge!). The pakora were gorgeous yum yum!0 -
tried kennys bolognese tonight ,( family smile as i talk as if he is one of the family:D ) Him and Martin :rotfl:
i was dubious as no onions or italian herbs but it was GREAT SO easy and very tasty.Goodbye jars0 -
I think I'm doing something wrong, I tried the curry sauce and it turned out fine, edible and OH liked it but I found it to be nothing like a chinese takeaway. . .
Also I made the satay sauce tonight and have to say that it tastes almost like just melted peanut butter and nothing like what you have out the chinese. I'm not complaining as I would rather make these things from scratch and I haven't had a takeaway in weeks but they don't seem to be like a takeaway.
Also I may be blind but my local Tesco doesn't have the value range lamb mince, I have looked elsewhere but can only find the low fat sort of options and at £3 odds for a tiny pack I'm a bit reluctant to try it!!
If anyone has any ideas on the recipes where I'm going wrong or have had a better attempt then please correct me

I did the beef chowmein last night ( slightly tweaked as I didn't have beansprouts so used thinly sliced pepper & carrot) and it was lush, lovely tender meat with a silky sauce. Def do this one again.
Got tandoori chicken thighs prepared and waiting in the fidge for tonight's tea, hope they're good :-)0 -

Not all stores sell the value lamb mince.
After saying that, my MIL said her store didn't sell it and then all of a sudden they have started to stock it.
It may be worth trying different stores in your area if you have more than one.0 -
Just made the choc chip cookies, soooo easy to make. I accidently left the salt out but they still taste yum. I left the cookie dough over night in the fridge and found it quite easy to slice.
Will definitely bake them again, big thumbs up from us :j0 -
I tried the donner kebab with turkey mince.
Don't try it, it's awful!!!! and it's so dry it was unbearable. £1 pack reduced so no worriesCredit Card: £796 Left/£900 October 2011 :eek:Store Card: £100 October 2011

made chapattis, nan bread, chicken tikka, tikka mossala and passanda yesterday
all was lovely (apart from my made-up passanda recipe, too many almonds lol)
will never be buying nan bread and chapattis ready made again - the homemade ones are so much better than the dry processed ones
Topped off the meal with a baked alaska that DD made
