I just used Warburtons buns, the one's that are already sliced, and they worked well.

The weekend I made the doner and the red sauce and served it with home made flat breads. Then for breakfast it was a bacon and egg muffin. Now that was tasty!!0

My local village shop has the sliced burger buns and they do look and taste remarkably familiar! I am not completely sure but I think they are the Warburtons ones as he stocks both Braces and Warburtons breads.0 -
Finally managed to get garlic powder - couldn't find it anywhere until I had a mooch around Lidl and there is was, think it was about 60p.
So going to do some of the recipes in here finally but can anyone recommend which type of bread bun they are using for the burgers, the book says buy them from online stockists but not sure what that means?
Also are people making their own pittas for the donar kebabs or just buying them?
Ta peeps
I make my own pitas, Claudia Roden's recipe that I've used for years
the difference between HM & shop bought is like day & night, I'm sure Kenny's pita recipe is just as good, so do give HM a try0 -
Can you point me in the direction of the Claudia Rodens Recipe for pitta breads please - just had a quick google, but can't find it.0

I'll check out my books, I have both versions of her Middle Eastern Food, & get back to you ... may well be tomorrow though, please bear with me0 -
I made two donor kebabs yesterday, one for the freezer and one for dinner, also hubs took left overs for lunch at work today.
I love making this, so easy yet so tastey, i too would love to make my own pittas as they are different here and dont hold together.

I'm obsessively making them. OH is happy because the frequency of kebabs and chilli has shot up. I just love how they taste, and I'm possibly a little sad because I like watching them blow up in the oven.
I'm normally my fiercest critic and find fault with every single thing I cook, but pitta breads I'm always completely proud of using the Kenny recipe. This one recipe has actually made me a more confident cook because it always works, and feels like real cooking (messy hands = real cooking as far as I'm concerned)0 -

Claudia's recipe doesn't seem to be anywhere on-line, so I'll PM it to you, I can't post it on the open forum because of possible copyright issues
I might make Kenny's as well next time I'm making the doner & see how the two compare, I love an experiment in the kitchen0 -

the shop bought pitas here in the UK don't hold together very well either, I've tried loads of different 'brands' & qualities & they always seem to fall apart & get holes in them
I occasionally get suckered into buying them when I'm in a hurry & am always disappointed
you should give the HM ones a try, honestly the difference is amazing ... cardboard vs fragrant, tender, tasty bread, well worth the effort0
