Where did people get their fenugreek leaves from? I normally do a shop from Tesco online but didn't see fenugreek leaves on there, but they had powder or something?

I want to make the South Indian Garlic Chilli, it costs us £15 when we order it from the takeaway  Pretty sure it wouldn't cost that much making it here :p

I know i've seen them somewhere but when I went to my local Mr T to get them there werent any. I just got the powdered version instead and used it in the Chicken/Lamb tikka recipe. It tasted fine and I'd use it again rather than try finding the leaves.

Lol they just wouldn't cook though, they were all damp and doughy... they were in for 50 mins altogether :p Gave OH one to try and he said 'it aint good!' so the rest got frisbee'd out the back door for the birds :D LOL

cookies dont go crisp, they are supposed to be chewy and doughy. when hot they are still quite soft, so when you try to pick them up, they should droop over the sides of the pallet knife/splice, but as they cool they firm up a bit more, so you can actually pick one up, but still not firm enough, that you would be able to dunk them

thats the way they are supposed to be when they come out of the oven you leave them for a few minutes and they harden up:D

I ordered the book Friday it came Saturday morning we had Donner on saturday evening and OH loved it:T it really does taste like the real deal (I should know by now I work in a chippie:rotfl:)

Yesterday I made cookies banana muffins and we had the garlic mushrooms with our tea the cookies lasted about an hour the last two muffins went in the packed lunches this morning and I made two packs of button mushrooms the whole lot got polished off:D
the only thing Id say about the mushrooms is they could take alot more garlic if I was making them for just adults they where perfect for the kids tastes though :T:T

They weren't that bad :D raw looking on the top but burnt underneath

i think the fact you used foil and grease, is what caused the bottoms to burn, you more of less fried them. how wide was you log, and how thick did you cut the slices, as this would have some bearing on the cooking time?

the log should be about 4cm wide, with the slices about 1/2cm thick

Sounds like I !!!!!!ed them right up then! The book didn't say what to put them on?
They weren't just doughy though they were completely raw. Don't feel like making them again.

Hannah I havent made them so cant really comment (although I might make some later on today) but I would have thought that a baking tray/sheet would have been best. Personally when I make cookies I use a baking tray lined with foil and use one spray of oil that I wipe round with kitchen roll. My biggest problem is that I aways put too many on the tray and they end up as one big cookie :o

  • the book says preheat oven to 180 or Gas mark 4??
I dont oil the tray or anything because the book didnt say to do anything:o
when they came out of the oven I left them about 5 minutes then put them on a wire rack :)

Got a feeling they may have been too thick with not enough space between them, my baking trays aren't very big. It was hard to slice the dough thinly as it just kept squishing (was in the fridge for over two hours). I'm not doing very well here am I lol.

To be fair though everything seems to take an age in that oven, it's knackered. Going to be replacing it with a new one soon so will give the cookies another try then.
