    Evening ladies.

Well that shows how ridiculously emotional I am at the moment. Sold my car on eBay at the weekend, and the lady came to pick it up earlier this evening.

Watching her drive away in it made me well up. I've had that car for 13 years since new. I know it's only a car, ad I did need realistically need to get rid of it, but still...meh :(

I remember when I got rid of my first car - I had a whole load of bother with it but I loved that little car, I used to polish it every Sunday!! I was gutted
  • Thanks Fuzzles.

Yep it was only an old Fiat Punto, but at the age of 23 when I bought it brand new, it was the most amazing thing ever!

I'm trying to be all MSE and sell/clear out stuff we dont need anymore. The car was just sitting outside costing me insurance and tax really as I tend to drive OH's car these days, and we really didn't need 2.

Funny though I paid nearly £8000 for it new, and sold it tonight for £320!!!

I'm not sure whether to :rotfl:or
Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,
You don't even take him seriously,
How am I going to get to heaven?,
When I'm just balanced so precariously..

I had a bit of a hormonal moment earlier, we had run out of ink in the printer at work, so I had to go and get some more, tried Tesco but they didn't have the one I needed, so went to Staples - by this time I was a bit pee'd off! The assistant was trying to be nice, she said if you buy two cartridges you get 30% off the second one - I turned round and said I don't care!!!! I didn't intend being mean, so I ended up trying to justify it when she was serving me, I felt terrible!

A lot of posts today! Took me about an hour to read them all.

I am planning on starting my maternity leave at 39 weeks. I have a desk job and would probably do more physically at home. Am I mad?

(Fingers crossed) I don't have any stretch marks yet and I'm 35w 2d now, but like someone else said, a lot of people seem to get them in the last couple of weeks.

DH & I went for a tour of the delivery unit last night and it was quite nice. It is newly refurbished and the rooms look really clean and modern. I expected them to be a bit less clinical and bland, but was happy enough. The midwife showing us round was lovely and talked about pain relief. I sometimes feel guilty that I want an epidural and that midwives tend to look down on you because you don't just suck it up and deal with the pain, but this midwife actually recommended it. She said midwives were no braver than anyone else and that most she knew wanted their epidural in the car park on the way in to the hospital. She said "Girls, it's fantastic. The way to go" without any prompting, so I feel a bit happier about the whole thing.

I love a good list too and have had practically everything on the list posted from about 20 weeks (including a years worth of nappies and wipes. I think my friends think I have lost it.

Will you be put onto statutory sick pay if this happens?
I could be yes. At the moment we are trying to get something worked out about working from home but . My leave year stares 1st feb and the way its going I could see my mat leave starting at 36 weeks and my 3 weeks holidays remaining starting before that so i can finish as early as possible rather thna working until 37 weeks and then holidays with mat leave at 40 weeks

isn't it strange what some people find essential and some don't. Add nappy stacker and hooded towels to muslins on the list of things I don't use.

I'm with you on the muslins, DH used them for cleaning his car/the windows, seemed a shame as they were pretty, but useless babywise. I think they are more commonly used by bottle feeders and I BF.

  • Just a quick note re muslin squares DD was FF and I didnt bother. If I needed something to mop up stuf I used tea towels...... or baby wipes.
