  • Hi everyone, I was never on the list but I came on here 11 days ago asking whether the pains I was having were contractions.

It turned out that they were! I made it to the hospital at 5pm and my son was born at 6.42pm. Straightforward and quick birth, completely different to the birth of my first. Unfortunately, my son had pneumonia when he was born and was kept on scbu for 5 days, he's back to full health and back home now.

I'll miss this thread, until next time, hehe. x

Thanks for the positive comment about sweeps everyone!! I guess im just a bit worried about 'interfering' before baby is ready to come out. But i know most people who go overdue have them so it must be ok.

I will be worse if baby still isnt here on Monday as that is when they want to induce me at 41 weeks. Im just getting myself more and more worked up, the more i sit here waiting the more i worry about all the things that could go wrong. Ive been really relaxed for most of the pregnancy despite all my SPD problems but the last week or 2 i have been a nightmare, i cant read peoples birth stories or even read my pregnancy book without ending up in tears!! Im only getting about 4 hours sleep a night which isnt helping.

I just need this Sweep to work and baby to arrive asap!!:)

That's what we all want to read. Thanks, ShelleyCrow and huge congrats. Looks like you've got a strong little one there if he fought off the evil pneumonia in 5 days.:T

Gems Poor you. Sorry you are feeling like that <Hugs> Nothing constructive to say but VERY soon, you'll be a fully fledged mummy and the memory of this last week or 2 will fade as you get to know your new person. Everything will be done to maximise the safety of you and your baby. Good luck, hun.

  • Had my second scan today so they could try and get head measurements. Guess who was still being awkward though! They did manage to get a good enough view eventually so we're all measured now. And guess when someone decided to wake up and have a wriggle - just after I'd left the hospital.

Discovered that sproglet had switched around and has head on my left whereas is it was on my right last week. That might explain the massive wriggle I felt a few days ago :p

Congrats to Rach and good labour vibes to JMF and Gems.

I think my "blooming" phase might be over (if I ever had one) and it feels like I still have forever to go yet. Little niggly things are getting me down, constipation, piles, horribly itchy boobs and worse still I think I might have SPD coming on. Everything feels like its hanging on its hinges down there, my inner thighs feel like I've spend eight hours in the saddle and I can seem to make any movement without pulling something. Ladies with SPD, does this sound familiar to you?

Thanks for all the congrats ladies. I will do a birth story as soon as I can, haven't really stopped so far...we had been letting him get too tired and missing the signs he was ready to go down so he'd got massively over tired, and that plus the wind was a bit much, poor little mite. Anyway, think we're learning to read him now, he's been down for a couple of hours, and I've had an hour's sleep too and am going for my shower.

But the mw weighed him yesterday and he's gained 1oz which is fab :) he does eat a lot though!!

Thanks Krystal, that's all really useful to know.

I'm only 22 weeks at the moment, so plenty of time to do research and talk to people. It's something I hadn't come across before, so I'm just in the "thinking about it" stage at the moment - certainly wouldn't be doing it if they were expecting me to go to the hospital to pump milk! But if I can benefit someone's poorly baby when they need it, without it being too much of a hardship, I feel like I should at least look into it.
As a mummy whose little one received donor milk in scbu I'd say it would make a big difference if you're able to do it. I am planning to donate to the hosp where he was as their supplies were v low and it's esp important for prem babies. It made a massive difference to me knowing he was getting breast milk, even if not mine!

:j:jCongratulations Rach!!! Leo is so gorgeous - sorry to hear things werent straight forward, but he is here safe and sound and perfect!! :j:j

Im booked in for a sweep tomorrow, the midwife is phoning me with a time in the morning. Hope it works coz im getting so restless and uncomfortable and finding it impossible to sleep at night which is making me so grumpy, also my pelvis is not coping well with the weight of the baby and im in so much pain every time i stand up:(
Hugs, Gems, I've been wondering how you are getting on. I have to say, what everyone has said about SPD is correct..I walked in there on crutches (though once his head was really down it was easing a bit anyway) and FiL took them back to the hosp before I left, didn't need them at all. Pelvis all fine. A little bit of pain in lower back if I stand too long but that's improving too.

Labour vibes for all who need them. I will keep popping in from time to time to keep an eye on you all and will

Rach im so glad you and Leo are getting on so well:j
Thanks for the SPD info - i so hope its the same for me as it just seems to be getting worse and worse every hour at the moment.

My sweeps at 2.30 - so leaving shortly, hubby is on hs way home to take me as i will definatly need a wheelchair from the car. It looks like he is off work for the rest of the week now - so that has cheered me up:)
    Finger crossed this will work!!

    Hi all

Sorry has taken me so long to get on here! I am sure Smartie has posted for me but my gorgeous son Leo John Richard was born last Thursday, 23 Sept at 7.55pm. He came out via the sunroof under general anaesthetic in the end after waters broke almost exactly 24 hours earlier. I will write birth story later - wasn't easy, and in the end my own feelings had been right and I did know my body, and I'd do it all again in an instant. The main thing is he's here and he's well, after 36 hours in SCBU (he had a 'dusky episode' thurs eve on me when he went really floppy and had to be rushed off and given oxygen. they think he'd got too cold from the operating theatre as we were in recovery for an hour, and I was a bit out of it and they weren't really keeping enough of an eye on me). It was the worst few hours of my life when they had taken him away. He's put on 1oz so far which is great at 5 days!

    Pics are here

We got home Sunday late aft, going ok so far, he's feeding well but is very windy, gets trapped wind really badly which stops him being able to settle. So I end up feeding him again and we end up in a vicious circle. DH is just trying to settle him now. He's being a star and all I am really doing is feeding and eating!

will try and catch up when (if?) I have time!

Huge congrats Rach. Our little ones share the same birthday. He is gorgeous x

JMF - Good luck for the induction, will continue lurking for news of your new arrival.
Good luck with the sweep Gems - hope it brings labour on for you.
