  • Hi there - thanks for all the msgs re my induction. Baby Adam was finally born this morning by emergency c-section and weighed in at 8pm 1oz - not bad for 38 weeks :-)
I don't want to go into too much detail, but although the pessary worked, the hormone drip completely floored me. I had an epidural to get me through the night of contractions, but when I started to push, the baby was having none of it. They tried to get him out using forceps which also didn't work out, so they gave me section.

Bottom line is that we're both ok - albeit battered and bruised :-) but I think if I ever do this again it's an elective section all the way!

Congrats ..and love the name (its what we're calling ours!) ;) xx

So went to see the Doc this evening and she has signed me off until my due date :eek::eek:

QUESTION - Anyone know how it works with Mat Leave & being sick??? Is it right that my mat leave will automatically when I have 4 weeks before my due date???

So am I correct to think that I will now be on sick leave for 4 weeks then on Mat Leave from 1st Nov?????

Any help/advice would be fab as I am going to need to face my boss with this tomorrow which I am dreading :o

Thats right, I was signed off sick right up till the day i was booked for mat leave (my leave was booked to start this week which is 4 weeks before my due date) but if i wasnt meant to start it until a week or two from now it would have kicked in this week if i were still signed off sick (not sure if my rambling makes sense, sorry!) x

    Hi all

Sorry has taken me so long to get on here! I am sure Smartie has posted for me but my gorgeous son Leo John Richard was born last Thursday, 23 Sept at 7.55pm. He came out via the sunroof under general anaesthetic in the end after waters broke almost exactly 24 hours earlier. I will write birth story later - wasn't easy, and in the end my own feelings had been right and I did know my body, and I'd do it all again in an instant. The main thing is he's here and he's well, after 36 hours in SCBU (he had a 'dusky episode' thurs eve on me when he went really floppy and had to be rushed off and given oxygen. they think he'd got too cold from the operating theatre as we were in recovery for an hour, and I was a bit out of it and they weren't really keeping enough of an eye on me). It was the worst few hours of my life when they had taken him away. He's put on 1oz so far which is great at 5 days!

    Pics are here

We got home Sunday late aft, going ok so far, he's feeding well but is very windy, gets trapped wind really badly which stops him being able to settle. So I end up feeding him again and we end up in a vicious circle. DH is just trying to settle him now. He's being a star and all I am really doing is feeding and eating!

will try and catch up when (if?) I have time!

    Evening all flower.gif

Midwife appointment went really well yipee.gif She went through my blood test results and absolutely everything came back normal which she was happy about. Checked my blood pressure which she said was excellent good.gif She was extremely happy with everything which I was pleased about.

She then said "lets see if we can hear this baby" happydance2.gif without any coaxing from me. Laid down on the couch and literally as soon as she put the sonicaid on my tummy she found the heartbeat happydance2.gif she lost it a couple of times as Tadpole moved about but she found it straight away again icon_smile.gif she said the HB was nice and regular and sounded just how it should do - I was so relieved juust to know that everything was ok in there.

So she said I don't need to go back till I'm 25 weeks - thats ages away! She said she will then give me details about the ante-natal classes and fill in the HIP Grant forms as we just literally qualify for it good.gif
