Has anyone, or is anyone planning to take part in a milk donation scheme?
Some have a room in the hospital for women to go into and pump, everything is supplied.
Some places provide bottles / bags, some ask you to supply your own... Some places will drive round on a regular basis to collect milk, some wait until you ring them and then collect and some ask you to take the milk in...
Did I mention they all have their own way of doing things? lol
But it should never be a bind, it should always be as much effort as you feel is enough and not more...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Hi all,
Congrats to all the new arrivals. Sweaty I know exactly how you feel, my ds birth very similiar to yours.
Well I'm pooped again today, I talked dh into take away tonight as I really don't have the energy to cook! My turn to put ds to bed though!
Our cat is poorly and hasn't moved from her bed since last night and hasn't eaten for at least a day, so we a bit worried, we've had her since we got married 13yrs ago nearly and her brother had to be put down during my last pregnancy at about this time of year, will have to take her to vets but I'm concerned at the cost of tests to find out whats wrong as its never cheap, and money is a bit tight this month.
Anyway need to go have dinner. Will be lurking later.0 -
Thanks Krystal, that's all really useful to know.
I'm only 22 weeks at the moment, so plenty of time to do research and talk to people. It's something I hadn't come across before, so I'm just in the "thinking about it" stage at the moment - certainly wouldn't be doing it if they were expecting me to go to the hospital to pump milk! But if I can benefit someone's poorly baby when they need it, without it being too much of a hardship, I feel like I should at least look into it.0 -

Me, I'm still feeling poo. Had a rubbish night sleep. I've been drinking hot water with honey and lemon like its going out of fashion. I've never bought honey before and I bought a jar from my local shop and the stuff at the top is honey like - but the stuff at the bottom of the jar is quite fuzzy and fluffy. Is it supposed to look like that???
It should be fine. Sounds like it's granulated and you just need to warm it up a little to get it runny again. Bung it in a bowl of warm to hot (not finger burning) water. Either that or you've got set honey at the bottom, which is fine to eat.
Don't overheat it or you could impair the honey, and don't pop it in the fridge once it's opened else you could speed up granulation next time.

So am I correct to think that I will now be on sick leave for 4 weeks then on Mat Leave from 1st Nov?????
Any help/advice would be fab as I am going to need to face my boss with this tomorrow which I am dreadingIf you can think it........it will happen0 -

Tinkwings - Basically if you were booked to go on maternity leave on due date of 1st december and went on sick leave within 4 weeks before that date they could bring forward your maternity leave. At least thats my understanding of the mine field that is HR policies.
direct.go.uk says:
"If you are off work because of your pregnancy within four weeks of the expected birth date, your employer can make you start your Statutory Maternity Leave then."DS1 arrived 22/02/11! 8lb3oz
