  • To be honest it has put a downer on it for me today, i was feeling happy and excited and now i still feel excited but also fed up. I don't need it with my family, im trying to stay positive as also there is a big risk that i may get postnal depression, so don't need the hassle.

Your bound to be feeling vulnerable and your hormones are going to be up and down for a bit so make sure you talk to someone about this situation openly- health visitor, OH, midwife, friend...just don't bottle anything up. It is an exciting time yes, but it's perfectly reasonable to feel sh!tty once baby is here and depression affects many new mums so just see how things go. Good luck x

Rach that sounds like a much better plan, so glad you are happier after this appointment.

Moneysaver I'm the opposite I don't want anyone coming to visit me in hospital and for about a week afterwards, I've told OH I want to do the announcements this time because in the past he has done it whilst I'm in recovery and I'm really tempted to not do it till a few days later, I wish. I don't see why your mum asked to visit then volunteered to look after the nieces, is there a reason she is having them cos it sounds like they could go back to brothers earlier than planned so she could visit.

Growth scan is booked for 7th oct at 11:40 and I need to pick up DS at 12, I need to find someone who can get him for me, stupid half days.

beckyandjack - that helps loads. My other hip issues are a bit unknown as are mainly under control now and no one knows if SPD is linked. Sounds like your SPD was much worse than mine, friend also said that she found kneeling to give birth helpful. I am hoping to manage on G&A too, would prefer to avoid epidural if poss! I need to get DH to measure my leg opening, partly depends how I'm sat i think, it's better if I'm propped up than completely flat as takes the pressure off my back i guess.

lilac - are those the american progs? sounds ridiculous. I am actually finding walking is getting easier, think head is dropping further, keep getting pain down there which i can only presume is head bashing and can only wee about an egg cup full at a time! I am therefore hoping that MW has just freaked my by worrying and that i will be able to walk, bounce etc in labour.

by the way do they provide the balls or do you have to bring your own?!

More than likely it was designed by a man especially as my OH didn't seem too concerned about it! Think he is more concerned about getting me to the hospital in time (70 mile trip) and not "messing up the car" as he puts it! I know he is joking but his comment isn't particuarly funny!!
You can buy disposable changing mats that are quite absorbant for the car if worried. With DD1 OH opted to take my car as it has leather seats :)

I hadn't been to mine til today as they don't do tours either. it's also on 3rd floor but there are lifts and being upstairs means i had mobile reception ;)
I would say go to the hosp anyway, you can still find where it is from the main entrance, even if you don't go in. I feel better now knowing where to go and having been there - I'd never been to that hosp before! I do understand the infection control thing, most hospital bugs are brought in by visitors who continue to visit even if they've had an upset tummy etc, and what is mild for a healthy person can cause serious probs for someone in hospital! A load of people in coats traipsing round a ward is probably not great to be honest! Mine does a dvd tour but they've never had any in when I've asked!

Fortunately I go for scans every 2/3 weeks so next time we go I will be making a trip up to the 3rd floor. It's not a huge maternity hospital and there is only two entrances so it won't be hard to find!

MS12 - Sending you HUGE hugs and my thoughts and best wishes for you and your section. Mummy Cuddles :j:j Sorry to read about your troubles with your mum.

My mum is fine she would be with me in the delivery ward if she could be again ! She was there when DD was born as I was on my own. MY mother in law however is a B1tch and has finally now admitted to DH that she is upset with me and not happy at all that I am PG :eek::mad::eek:

Just remember that you DH & baby are the most important people now and your mum is just cutting off her nose to spite her face by the sounds of things.

:rotfl:My OH has been tinkering with the s0dd!ng car for months, using the 10 minute run to the hospital as an excuse for getting new parts.:p
I might ask him tonight about the "messing up the car" thing...perhaps I'll have to sit on a top weave drysheet custom designed for the car.
70 miles? Are you on the Isle of Skye?

EDIT - Thanks LilacPixie - will look into disposable changing mats

think so, I will try...may need my own birth ball as i'm small (5ft) and it's the right size for me! sorry if TMI but I managed to DTD with DH like that the other day which worked ok, couldn't have done it for long but at this stage with so little sex nothing lasts too long :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I bet if you just buzzed when you were there they'd show you around.

My mum would be there too, I know with my sis she was sitting on her hands at home as she knew it was hubby's time but wanted to help! Your MIL can f off I'd say, what's it got to do with her. I am v lucky with my in laws, FiL has done 2 return hosp runs in the last 2 days and has his mobile on constantly now in case i need him. fortunately his job (church minister) is v flexible so he can help, stand by is my friend who is also a minister but her car is high up so it's harder getting in!
