Rach - so glad to hear you got some answers today and are feeling happier about it all. Similar outcome to me really, though i wish someone could have talked to me a bit more abouth the pain relief side, although from what ive read im thinking along similar lines as what you have been told. I wonder if our girls names are the same:D

Well im booked in for a sweep this time next week - so baby better get a move on!! im getting so many pains and twinges, and braxton hicks tightening, but am just trying to ignore it all, as i keep thinking its it and then it all stops.:(

We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.
  • Thankyou Make it 3. I have said that nieces will need to wait a few days before they visit. Said i would let her know when she can visit at home too.

  • My problem is that i have always tried to please people. I just want to be able to come home on sunday and relax and rest with my new baby, my dh and my dog.

apparently it's called an anaesthetic referral, it was really helpful (esp as because of my being in denial about the birth I'd not been to any classes, but had obviously read up a lot.) Maybe you could ask for one, mine was only done yesterday I think and just marked as urgent, I just went into lab ward and one of the obs anaesthetists came and chatted to me in a delviery room! You can PM me about the name if you like...am not sharing it on here as promised DH but I could tell one teeny person I'm sure!!

    How are you feeling now?
I'm feeling much better thanks, still scared sh!tless and not sure what I'll think if the consultant phones and says he's decided I do need a section, but I think I am now at a place where I'm almost as in control as I can be at this stage. My next aim is to persuade DH that some water element will be helpful...lots of people are telling me positive stories now. How are you more importantly?!

  • MS - thought i'd pop in and share my input as my husband has been in your predicament. He's the middle child and as such was always the 'less important' one. Well, he grew up thinking it anyhow. He did write it all down in a long letter to his mother but she, always being right chose to ignore it and say he was being silly. It caused a huge rift. Now he only speaks to her for the sake of his daughter (not mine from previous). I don't speak to them at all after they completely alienated me from the family. Apparently that was the norm whenever he had a girlfriend and to be quite frank, I was of the opinion that life was far too short for that bull!

So... now that I am preggers it's going to be interesting to see how it all plays out. I don't want to know them at all. In fact, he's not interested in them, just remaining polite for his daughters sake. They won't even hear the news about the pregnancy from us. Probably from Hubby's ex who will I imagine be on the phone straight after he talks to her about it! :D

I guess my point is... You have a family of your own now. And whilst your mother/father/sisters/brother whoever may not like you to be important you'll always be important to your OH and your child. It was important to me that my children didn't feel the 'second best' feeling that my hubby had with the grandparents and was a major factor in us deciding they wouldn't get any babysitting privelidges. I do think you ought to consider this too.

Above and beyond though, this is YOUR time. Don't let anyone else ruin this for you. Your beautiful baby will be with you tomorrow and you know what? You'll see there isn't another person on the planet whom you could love more and everything else will fade into oblivion.

I wish you all the best honey. xx

moneysaver it does sound like your mum is making excuses not to see you rather than sorting out your brother or his wife watching their own children at her house for a bit, it would upset me too but like others have said you need to realise its her loss and you are important. I completely understand you not wanting the nieces round until you have settled a bit with the baby. All the best for tomorrow hope it goes really smoothly for you and remember OH is there for you, you don't need anyone else xxxx

I really don't want anyone coming to visit us but MIL is going to be staying with us and watching DD and DS for us so OH can visit me, since she is doing us a massive favour coming up from plymouth to babysit it is only fair she is the first person to see the baby.
  • I'll have my MIL thrown out of the ward if she even attempts to visit me. She already gate crashed my wedding. She's not ruining this birth for me too!

Theoretically it could be better than Eastenders!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

  • Also forgot to say has anyone heard of the full moon thing?? apparently when their is a full moon maternity units bring in extra staff as their is an increase in women going into labour with their waters breaking, something to do with the tide and atmosphere making ladies pop!
So the full moon is tonight at 3:09am and you are meant to face the moon and rub your belly in a clockwise motion :rotfl: to increase the chances

Will be checking back tomorrow to see if its had an affect on anyone fingers crossed ladies! x
