They've stopped doing hospital visits here also due to short staffing. Hardly fills you with confidence! In contrast our community midwife led unit were really lovely and basically said their doors are open 24/7 and just to phone when we fancy coming in...they'll let us know if they're mega busy. Hopefully all will be straight forward and I can stay at the community unit but would have been nice to know what to expect if I need to transfer to hospital.0 -
Hi oxclairexo
The main reason apparently was due to increased infection levels which is a bit concerning! But they did try to reassure me that their website is up to date and will provide a virtual tour shortly which I guess is something but it isn't the same as being able to go round and familiarise yourself with it. I will just print out a map and put it in my hospital notes!!!

Thankyou rach, glad that your appointment went better today. My mum texted me back saying that its not alright and she wanted to see me and her grandson and that she arranged to have my nieces last week, before she knew it was friday or saturday visiting and that kids weren't allowed. I told her not this saturday what has gone but the saturday before that when i was going in to hospital and it seems she just assumed that she could bring nieces to hospital and didn't ask anyone. So it does seem that i told her when i was going in before she arranged to have nieces. She says that she was looking foward to seeing me and that she does care about me and love me and that ive not to think that she doesn't. With my mum her actions speak louder than her words. If she had planned on having nieces till sunday then why on monday did she say she couldn't come till saturday as was having nieces friday no, no mention of having them saturday night too. Also im sure that my brother and fiance wouldn't have minded if she dropped them off for a hour or so, so she could have visited us.Married 09/09/090

MS12 So sorry to hear your having problems with your mum. Having this to deal with the day before your c-section stinks. Just glad induction went well and you have supportive friends around. Is there absolutely no-one else who could take these neices for an hour or 2 on the Saturday? Mothers! Not that this is any of your fault so don't stress and put your energies into the bond between you and your own child who will be here very soon!:j
Rach You sound a bit happier since you've talked things through. Happy bouncing...hopefully you won't go over.
Peaches Delivery ward on 3rd floor??? Hope the lift is working or they'd be mopping the stairs all the time.:eek:0 -

Obviously the maternity ward was designed by a man.:rotfl:0 -
Thankyou ladylegs. I don't think that nieces parents would have minded if she dropped them off for an hour on the saturday so she could have visited me. It feels like my friends care more than my own family. My brothers fiance and my brother are going to come and visit me on the friday which is nice, apart from that it will most likely just be my dh that visits me and baby. Dh family live about 200 miles away otherwise they would have visited.
To be honest it has put a downer on it for me today, i was feeling happy and excited and now i still feel excited but also fed up. I don't need it with my family, im trying to stay positive as also there is a big risk that i may get postnal depression, so don't need the hassle.Married 09/09/090 -
More than likely it was designed by a man especially as my OH didn't seem too concerned about it! Think he is more concerned about getting me to the hospital in time (70 mile trip) and not "messing up the car" as he puts it! I know he is joking but his comment isn't particuarly funny!!*~* Baby Girl born 29.10.10 - Isobelle Grace *~*

I would say go to the hosp anyway, you can still find where it is from the main entrance, even if you don't go in. I feel better now knowing where to go and having been there - I'd never been to that hosp before! I do understand the infection control thing, most hospital bugs are brought in by visitors who continue to visit even if they've had an upset tummy etc, and what is mild for a healthy person can cause serious probs for someone in hospital! A load of people in coats traipsing round a ward is probably not great to be honest! Mine does a dvd tour but they've never had any in when I've asked!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
Good luck to sarah and Hngry for scans today.
Tigtag - don't you think the birth programs are all good mornign well is claires due date today so she has came to have her baby. Clair just pop into that room along there and put on a gown and we will get your epidural inseted in jut a moment. I sit there and think !!!!!! its her EDD and she is being induced and getting an epidural before they do anything. Then it moves on to you seeing a woman stuck on her back in a bed with various tubes/lines in her she loots totally out of it, and the narrator saying well its been 5 hours now and Claire is only 3cms dilated so we will shortly be taking her to theater for a c-section.
My mind just screams NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO you interfeared with the whole pregnancy birth thing by inducung on edd for no reason other than it was the due date. you then gave an epi before anything then after 5 hours you are surprised she is only 3cms and exhausted. Inductions have their place, DD2 was an induction and with my issues this pregnancy, previous quick births and history of heamorrage I am considering requesting induction this time but if you are being induced get upright, walk, bounce on a ball get that baby head on yoour cervix to actually do something and try get the cx going without the drip. With the best will in the world giving an epi then starting sytocin drip is not going to do a great deal in a short period of time.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000
