I haven't had a c section but have been told I am going against medical advice if I do have a home birth. I think they just like to say these things so they can protect themselves and say they have followed procedure etc. They like to insist on following procedure and telling you "xyz". It's even written in my notes that home birth is against medical advice. But the midwife said herself that there is no history in my pregnancies why I shouldn't have a home birth, just that she/hospital/medical advice does not recommend it.

its annoying isnt it, there have been studies showing that home birth is safer in low risk pregnancy plus costs less for the nhs, plus lowers rates of interventions and even death yet some people are still so against it!

Thing is, the midwife said herself that at first sign of any problems they would call an ambulance which is what they would do for any other woman having a home birth.

The only thing I would like about going to the hospital would be the chance to use the birthing pool, I am not going to hire one for home as we don't really have the room. Also I like that the Bounty woman comes around and takes the baby's photo which I would miss as well with not being at hospital.

Got to go shopping today for a couple of cheap shower curtains to protect the floor/bed...well I will if OH decides to get a move on and take me! I am not feeling too confident driving now am 38 weeks nearly so would prefer he drove. But of course he is the one who is tired and gone for a sleep and I am here with our two toddlers after having been awake three times in the night!

fuzz that happened to me yesterday morning, after i got it all inside on the clothes horse the sun was splitting the trees! i was not impressed

lillian is the birth prep class done by NHS or is it somewhere private you went?

Same is happening here, I've had the towels in and out twice now - I'm just leaving them out there now, it's only water ;)

It was a private one run by my pregnancy yoga teacher, but I do have a few NHS ones planned nearer my due date - I rang the parent education department at the hospital who booked me in for 3 classes, a hospital tour and a breastfeeding workshop. Apparently they get booked up very far in advance so it's worth ringing as soon as possible.

OH is away until Monday night now, rubbish. Looking forward to X-Factor, a brew and a kit kat later though!

Smartie - what a beautiful baby, you must be very proud :)

  • Have a kitkat for me too please lilian! I would love one right now. Am getting cravings for chocolate, but must resist as I'm caffeine intolerant, and will most likely end up with a migraine :( In fact if anyone has chocolate, have a bite for me and remember that it's my quota of calories so won't affect you at all :D

Trying to get the energy to empty the washing machine, refill it and pop into town.....
If having different experiences, thoughts and ideas to you, or having an opinion that you don't understand, makes me a troll, then I am proud to be a 100% crying, talking, sleeping, walking, living Troll. :hello:
