  • Rach, it looks like this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Junior-Joy-16-litre-Nappy-Bucket-Lid-Pink-/170371392994?pt=UK_Baby_Baby_Changing_Nappy_Sacks_Bins_and_Stackers_LE&hash=item27aaed25e2#ht_2266wt_1139

I'm sure it wasn't that expensive when I bought mine though, more like £5 - don't forget though that a nappy net (did I mention they are great?) will make any lid fit a bit tighter, and it doesn't have to be massively tight to keep smells in as you'll be washing pretty frequently anyway, especially with a tiny baby because they go through more nappies than an older one.
  • Hi everyone,

Welcome new babies, looking forward to pics!

So excited that we finally bought our pram today, have spent hours pushing the M&P Sola around the shop and today decided i didn't like it anymore, went to mothercare as OH wanted to look for trainers in the same retail park and had a look around, saw the MY4 (sis in law has the MY3 chasis) tried to have a play with it and the alarms went off lol so gave up showed to OH, who is of the opinion of its a pram whatever, he wont use it much anyway, tried it in the boot, tried out the maxi cosi in the car and decided to just get it, very unlike me to be spontaneous, i'm now worrying that i'll hate it but it has really good reviews adn we got discounts of about £80 with vouchers and price matching. Only prob is as i went through babyplan to get the 10% off they wont release it for 28 days, I'm due in 30:eek: going by their calculations the earliest they would release it for delivery is the 11th (my due date) lovely mothercare staff have assured me that if it doesnt turn up once bubs is here they will lend me something til it arrives, car seat coming next week so at least we'll get home from hosp.
Poor shop asst said its not as thought you'll be out of the house as soon as its born... told her that DS2 was born on the Friday and we were in town shopping on the sunday :p

Also bought our changing mat from matalan gorgeous winnie the pooh one for £10, picked up some maternity mats for the bed, mroe bibs, and inlaws have agreed to buy our moses basket for us which is all we have left to get exciting!!

Planning to have an ebaying day tomorrow as its free listing, have loads of ds2's clothes to sell and my doppler which i won't be using much anymore, only used it about 6 times

Labour vibes and hugs to all that need / want xx

  • Congrats Smartie!!! Love the name!!

Fuzz: I received part of my Vertbaudet order yesterday, some lovely dungerees for Theo!! Really good quality. They emailed to say the other outfit was on its way :)

Re: Sizes of vests/ sleepsuits to take in hospital bag; as I was told my baby was going to be a 9-10lber I packed a couple of size newborn and size 0-3 sleepsuits/ vests. In the end Theo was a long slim baby so even newborn drowns him! The hospital put him in tiny baby size when he was in SCBU and I am dressing him in newborn size now.. its still too big though!!! Really cannot believe how slim he is!!

Make sure your OH's know where extra supplies of things are, as I was in hospital for 5 days, and had a problem with size 1 nappies also being too big for my little man I kept having leaks and having to change his clothes, my OH kept bringing the wrong size!! Grrr!!!
  • Fuzz - I got my order and one of the items was out of stock-grr!! The only bonus is, I now pay nothing for the cot sheets and t-shirt I bought :j

Well after gloating to you all about what fantastic sleep I have still and don't have to wee, I think I cursed myself :o I keep waking up at 2, then again at 3.30 and again at 5ish for the last few nights! Still don't need a wee mind, just rubbish sleep!! Never mind, don't think this cold is helping!

Other halfs laptop has just broken last night so I now have no comms with him (he's in Afghan). Like things are not difficult enough!!! Lets hope I don't go into labour early!!!

    Morning x

Plymouth I had a couple of really bad nights after that too, one I work at 3:30 then OH got up for work and I tried to go back to bed at 5:30 but the kids got up argh. Now I seem to be getting up regularly at 4ish for a wee but I've been waking up on my back so obviously fidgeting.

Went to toys r us yesterday, they didn't really have much but got a changing mat. I think the only thing I need now is a new bed for DS so I can have the cot bed back and a highchair that I could get later on.

Went to asda and got a new kettle, its really hard water here and I think the last one I bought was when DD was born nearly 6years ago and I did citric acid it every week with the steriliser but haven't really been keeping up with it so got a nice new one to start again. I dropped the brita filter jug a few years ago too and haven't bothered replacing it, wonder if I should get another one. Got some lansinoh for my nipples too because I heard its fine to start using now and they are still really sensitive, put some on last night and they feel so much better already, they actually looked red raw yesterday and are now back to a normal pinkish colour, its expensive but I think it was worth it.

  • Krystaltips/chazsucks - I didn't know I had a choice, when I made it quite clear I did not want to be monitored the whole time I was just told, well you don't have a choice its the policy and thats what we have to adhere to. I dont want to go in there all guns blazing refusing to go along with them as I'm not sure that would get me any better care, have you experienced vbac without continous monitoring?

ETA: Also I dont fully have my dh's support/fairer to say he doesn't understand my need to not be monitored. So I'm trying not to throw my toys out yet as I do want his support as I want him as my birthing partner and he is supportive otherwise, he just has bad memories from ds birth.
Could you point out to DH that if you have continual monitoring you will need more help with the pain, and if you end up having an epidural then you have more chance of needing intervention and more likely to end up in another CS?

Do you know what kind of monitoring it is? Last time I ended up having my waters broken and the clip put on the baby's head. It actually worked better for me than having the trace belts around me because I was able to get up and move around as far as the wire would allow me... I spent most of my labour bouncing on a birthing ball at the side of the bed :)

I got these (not purple, cream, but this exact deal, which they do quite often) in size 2

Just to offer an alternative view... I have a couple of lollipop micro fleece ones, I find they go misshapen in the wash and the velcro part tends to rub on my skinny baby's tummy...

chakani - which nappy bucket did you get? I still need to get one...friend recommended a bin from ikea but i don't think the lid fits tightly enough!
I wouldn't worry too much about how tight the lid is... As long as it's nowhere the baby can get and mess with it then it doesn't need to be tight...

My aunt bought me my nappy bucket, it's a tie dye effect one she found on the market for about £2 :)

Just sharing a code I've just been emailed - HOMEDISC for £20 off orders over £150 (I think) and £50 off orders over £250 at Argos on furniture - it works on the cot beds and nursery furniture so the set we had our eye on (that already has £50 off) would now have £100 off instead - think we'll buy it this weekend as it's too good an offer to refused.

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3772830/Trail/searchtext%3ESALISBURY.htm

You also save 20% on mattresses if bought in the same order.

    It also works on this set which is amazingly cheap although the cotbed looks a bit rickety in the picture - don't know if it is in real life;

Hope that helps someone :) Off to my birth prep class now - wish me luck!

Ooooh thanks for this. I've been looking for a winnie the pooh changing mat and this is my favourite so far. The only one that would beat it is if I can find one with an eeyore on.

Thanks to Rach and BudgetBlonde for advice about my stained mobile. I tried scrubbing, but it did nothing :( So in the end I shoved it in the washing machine. It's dried out overnight and I think it looks great :) I think the stains are ever so slightly still there but you have to know where they were and look for them.

Chankani - thanks for the lengthy response :) It's great to get all the info I can. Thanks for the tip on the net, great idea.
About fleece liners...do you just use any fleece? Like a blanket? Or do you get the material from a fabric shop?

LIlian - my sister has the first set I think. It's really nice but the cotbed was a pain to put together as all the spindles have to be inserted...it doesn't come with the side assembled like an Ikea or Kiddicare one was. Which is fine, but worth knowing as her DH nearly chucked the whole thing out of the window! I think at some stage we will need a bigger chest of drawers, the one we have is just one I had with only 3 drawers, plus there are 2 in the wardrobe and we've got some under bed storage boxes.

I slept pretty well, only woke about 5 and then 9ish. Could've slept much longer I think but just not comfy, so thought i may as well get up. Sounds like DH is up and trying the new shower out.

thanks re nappy buckets, my friend recommended this bin, as it's bigger and works fine for her, plus fits neatly by the loo. Guess I might get that and if I find it smelly will use it for recycling instead and get a different one. I should have enough nappies in size 1 to wash every 2.5-3 days IF my friend ever sends me them...getting stressed about it now as if I'd known she wouldn't I would've bought some more.
