MOTM-We had a high risk of DS with the triple test in 1st pregnancy and it caused an awful lot of stress. We declined the amnio. Baby was fine.
2nd preg, I have had a NT test privately and came back low risk.
I felt if I had a DS baby I would like to know risk before hand so I could get my head round it and also to prepare for after birth ie save more money in case I need extra time off or was unable to go back to work.
I do feel cross that the triple test is still performed in some areas when its not really that accurate and much more accurate tests available.

Congrats to all new births! Been a baby boom over last week!!

    Congrats to freebie and kitkat

    Congrats MOTM, double trouble eh?
I had the quad test and had an amnio because the result came back raised. We weren't so sure we'd continue with the pregnancy if it had come back positive.

Congratulations to all the new babies, scans and graduates from the less than 12 weeks thread, although this baby boom at the moment is pushing the rest of us up that list quicker than ever! :D

If I'm honest, I haven't heard anything positive about inductions.

Here's one for you, when drip went in I was 3cm 1 hour later I was 10cm and pushing 40 mins after that DD was born so 1hr 40 in total. I screamed the hospital down as the pain was beyond description and I did have a small tear (small enough though that I could decline a stitch) but I don't know if I would have still had that level of pain and tear without induction. Either way I would welcome induction this time in the hope it was as quick.

congrats re the twins MOTM, hope it's not too much of a shock for you both, though I guess you must've been semi expecting it.

We had the NT scan at 12 weeks, along with the blood tests. TBH it was just assumed we'd have it and I was happy to. Still not sure what we'd have done re an amnio, i think it's hard to say until you're in the situation but like lwcus we'd prefer to have known and like bunny couldn't say for certain whether we'd continue (i hate saying that but am being honest). I just think it's up to each individual couple, everyone has a different need for knowledge.

Just a tip for anyone trying to do the list, if you quote it rather than copy and paste you won't lose the links. Then you just need to delete the [quote....] bits in square brackets at the beginning and end.

DH thinks I am de-mob happy! I feel like a different person knowing work is nearly over!

Mothercare seem to have a bit of a sale, I am pleased as I've been meaning to get this. Think I will see if DH can nip into mothercare near work on Thurs. Otherwise perhaps FiL will go as he goes to town most days!

    Evening everyone,

Congratulations to all the new babies (official and unofficial) and welcome the graduates from the 12 week thread. Wow twins MOTM. :)

    Tig
    - Ouch, hope its feeling better soon

Catw0man - I didn't want to know that as it means I'm also under 100 days to go, that's making it more real!

Courgette - good for you holding out for what you want. Do what's right for you and baby and within reason ignore everyone else.

Sorry can't remember what everyone else has said so appropriate vibes to whoever needs whatever.

Had a productive evening with DH. He's recently started doing Jamie at Home and the new catalogue has just come out so we've spent the evening working on a plan of attack to get his parties and sales up for the end of the year.

I saw the consultant midwife this afternoon to discuss my options and get her opinion on the best way for this baby to come out. She has recommended the safest thing for me and the baby (even considering my SPD) is to have baby vaginally, preferably in water. This is kind of what I wanted to hear. DH was with me so he feels more reassured now and has stopped pushing me towards an elective, especially as she said I'm likely to be on crutches for a period after the birth and trying to manage on crutches after a section would just make it more difficult.

So plan of attack is to go back to see her at 36 weeks to write my birth plan, but I'm aiming for a spontaneous labour and then birth in the pool. We've got a new maternity unit opening in October with 3 pools in the MLU and 1 on CLU so the chances of me having a water birth are pretty good. I'm feeling much more reassured now and calmer about the whole thing, which was the point of the appointment. I finally felt as though someone what listening to me and what I wanted for once. Its a shame more consultants aren't like her.

I'll respond to everyone tomorrow, but......I have a hunch at least one of these will be a boy.....quietly hoping.
