Yeah, tried all that with no results.

The thing is with induction, all they can actually do is offer it. It's probably presented in such a way that you feel as though you have to agree but ultimately it is your choice as mother whether you get induced or not. Mws'drs say that after 42 weeks the placenta can become less efficient so they like to induce if babe hasn't been born by then but it's only their opinion.

If I'm honest, I haven't heard anything positive about inductions. Everyone I've ever spoken to about it has said that it makes the contractions more painful and the labour longer and I'm not really up for that. I also don't want to have this baby in hospital and they won't induce at home. It's fine, I'm not at all surpried to have gone overdue but I am surprised I've gone so far over. I know babe will be hear within the next week or so which is nothing in terms of a lifetime, it's just getting so frustrating now!

  • Hello all

I am here - baby Robin Arthur Harry arrived on wednesday 25th aug at 9.38am weighing 7lb 10oz, elective c-section as planned. All went well, we came home on saturday and are getting into some kind of routine (ok I am the one stop buffet at the moment!). He took to breastfeeding immediatly latching on well - although I am suffering from very very sore nipples laniosh cream and warm flannels help but just got to wait for them to toughen up apparently!!

C-section was fine I was so so nervous especially about spinal/epidural the team were fantastic and everything is sooooooo relaxed they make you feel at ease as best they can and throughout the procedure the anaestist was talking to me and my husband and the operating theatre practitioner and his student were great had fab senses of humour. Whole procedure from start to finish incl waiting for spinal to take effect took less than an hr.

    Good luck to everyone else.

I love that as well. We decided at the weekend after all my questions that we wouldn't buy anything after all - we're waiting till after the 20 week scan now and hoping that 20% offer thing on Mothercare is still on!
When is your scan? Mine is 2 weeks on Friday....getting closer.

Two weeks today. Having said that though, 10 days after that we go to Jersey for our honeymoon (delayed because of the ash cloud!) so we couldn't order anything anyway because it's 10 days for delivery. So we probably won't end up ordering until the start of October.

Edit - congratulations FQ - Robin is lovely - and I may steal it!

Edit 2 - I may steal the name not the baby, obviously!

Awww Freebie - congratulations :) Thanks for updating us. Robin is a cute name. It's nice to hear some positive feedback from a csection as it is one of my biggest fears.

I'm having my next dilemma with baby planning purchases...cot/cotbed.

So what are you getting and why?

I thought I'd decided on a £100 cotbed, but after seeing them I'm not sure they would last the length of time they are meant for. So am now considering either a £100 cot, or a £250 cotbed (which seem far more solid).

Naturally I've fallen in love with one:
    http://www.mothercare.com/Winnie-Pooh-Cot-Bed-Save/dp/B002JEE1BE/sr=1-6/qid=1283265880/ref=sr_1_6/276-8969502-2295858?_encoding=UTF8&m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&n=44362031&mcb=core
And it's on offer!!! It seemed really solid in the shop and I'm sure it was £250 yesterday. I can't possibly buy one this early though.
Thats a nice one Giz:D We've gone for cotbed so it'll grow with bubba and hopefully once this one is old enough we can then use it for number 2 and number 1 will go into a 'proper' be:D
We got THIS one for £199.99 in a bundle deal so got all the bedding too and some extras too:money: we did look at cots but for us they just weren't sturdy(or pretty:o) enough for my liking:p But the prices seem to have gone back up atm for the autumn/winter collections so my advice would be to look at the ones you want and then keep an eye on their prices:D
I'm a total novice in all things baby..I'm learning as I go along! :o

How long over can you go before they induce you? Is it 2 weeks or something?
Depends on pct and how busy they are I think but the general rule is 10-14days:cool:

You're not weird at all - I'll be having an induction at 38 weeks because of (my) health issues, but am not looking forward to it and going to do everything in my power to kick start eviction before this... There's a lot to be said for the argument that babies come when they're ready, so hang on for as long as you feel best for you.
