Hugs Rach..sorry to hear you are in so much pain
People should really realise that walking and standing for you is too much at the moment. This SPD sounds dreadful. I've read so many stories from ladies on here that suffer from it. Sounds horrendous.Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
Thanks MV, I honestly don't think mine is half as bad as some people's either, courgette for instance was much worse! I think maybe I have a very low pain threshold!!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0

*Ahem* I'm going to delurk and run the risk of really offending you. Absolutely not my intention and I mean only well for you, but....
Rach, SPD is awful and the only real cure for it is rest and not overdoing it. If you don't mind me saying so, and I really don't want to offend you, I think you overdo it often. I nearly piped up the other day when you had the day off sick but still went to your friend's for a cup of tea. You must be incredibly selfish and rest rest rest. I understand fully the frustration of how tiny things become seemingly impossible and how your mind wants to get all this stuff done but your body can't do it but by keeping on going you are only hurting yourself. Today I really wanted to pop up to Ikea to buy a couple of baby bits I've seen in their catalogue but I went to Tesco yesterday and I know that quite simply I cannot do both. Sounds ridiculous when you put it like that but that's the reality.
It really isn't long until the babes will be here then you can go off on your walks to your heart's content but right now, please please please put yourself first and not trips out.
I'm sorry, far be it from me to tell someone what to do but you seem to be in a lot of pain often and I can't not say anything :AUpdating soon...0 -
courgette - you've not offended me but I really don't know how much less I could do. Obviously today it was a bit out of my hands and perhaps I should've just not gone at all i guess, but it was only 5 mins walking, it's just that I can't manage that now! Friday yes I went to my friends but I literally walked over the road to get on the bus, and then got off the bus outside her house at the other end and then sat on her sofa not mine. Other than that I've more or less been in and sitting or lying down all weekend. I do have to go to work this week and that is almost 1.5 hours each way, though mainly sitting. I guess maybe I just have to accept I'll basically be housebound once I finish work! I guess i thought if she'd considered it so bad the physio would have given me crutches or something, I saw the sheet she wrote and it said 'moderate' so I assumed that meant I shouldn't ham it up too much!
I guess I have to reassess and your advice is really appreciated, I feel like I should try and at least do little bits as I feel like I'm making a fuss otherwise! I know any proper walks of anything more than 5 minutes are out and we have no stairs at home, once I'm in our first floor flat, and work is all lifts.
DH is not massively understanding, I know he knows I'm in pain but I don't think he realises how bad it is, like today when I was crying and sat on a bench he said 'we might as well go home then' which just makes me feel bad. I know he's so worried we won't be able to walk properly ever again (we used to regularly do 15-20 miles of coastal walking, and up to 100 miles over a holiday).
Also, completely know what you mean about things like Ikea. I actually need to go but have asked my friend to get the bits i need when she is going as I know I couldn't be on my feet that long. I know something like Tesco is completely out at the moment!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
I agree Rach it's awful when you can't do anything
My OH took some real stick when little monster and I got home because I could barely get my own cereal never mind carry it into the next room and I was so frustrated, plus I really hate it when people re arrange things in my house or things change when I'm not there (guess where the twins probably get their autistic tendencies from) and I've tried really hard to be grateful but it's not easy is it
It's getting a bit better now and I can make short trips out, I've sent OH on his work away as we're going to really need the money this month and I know all I can do is literally do the school runs and I'll probably still have to sleep in the day.
It's a big shock to the system when you just can't do it on your own any more especially when you've always had to do everything on your own.
Maybe if you keep refusing to take it easy we can get someone to make youMum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

SPD is evil and in my experience only gets worse as the baby gets bigger. TBH I worry how long I will be able to continue for as I could walk a mile easy around the office on a busy day. Been here before so I have all the excercises and the keeping knees together etc but at 14 weeks I am already in discomfort and have told OH sofa is the place for me for tonight and kitchen is 1st door on the left.
Rach little bits will screw you over, your little bits should be sitting on the sofa and get OH to bring you washing to fold or something.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000 -
Thanks Delain xx I didn't realise I wasn't taking it as easy as I needed to to be honest. I probably should've got signed off a couple of weeks ago I guess. You live and learn!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0

Lots of paediatricians are midwives too. I arranged for one to come out to me last year as I got friendly with her. The paediatricians use to check the babies over in hospital but now because people are in/out of hospital quickly after giving birth some midwives are doing it. Well they are near me anyway..worth asking.0 -
Hi Ladies,
I'm 10+4 so just popping over from the under 12 week thread to ask a question/get opinions as it's a birthing question. This is my second pregnancy and I've set my heart on a water birth, and I wanted to ask what is prob a weird question but do you sit in it naked? I realise I'd have to be bottomless but I hate the idea of being topless for possibly several hours. After 5 years of fertility treatment before I had the 1st, there can't be a medical professional in a 50 mile radius that hasn't seem my fairy and that strangely never worried me. But would I be a total freak if I wore a bikini top/tankini top/nursing bra in the pool?AKA: PC

Short answer, wear what you are comfortable in, in the pool. I wore nothing, but friends have worn bikini tops etc. My FIL couldn't understand why I wasn't wearing a full swim suit when I told him I hadn't packed one cause he asked. :rotfl:0
