Thanks everyone, I need to get my head together and work out what I'm asking midwife. I will put some thought into a birth plan this week, that should help. I think it has helped to just be honest about it!
Ended up staying in tonight and everyone coming here. DH set off early for the pub via the cashpoint and it was rammed. I was more than happy to stay in, though they all brought kebabs back so the flat stinks!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -

I'm having a minor rant over this!!
Looks like I cant do this at my hospital as the service isnt offered (gonna check with the madwife anyway) but HOW can they do this?
Does anyone else agree with me that by not collect the blood / cells but throwing the cord and placenta in the clinical waste they are throwing away the chance of life?

Thanks everyone, currently in post natal ward without baby not sleeping listening to others babies cry and woman next to me snoring, probably get no sleep for a second night in a row. Just want to be at home with our son, sorry for bringing a downer to things really hope they discharge me tomorrow and so does he. His blood was going up but dropped slightly this evening so have increased his feeds, wish I was more mobile as could just go down and see him - but even with DH as support this evening I felt really faint so not a good plan, but we did get to cuddle him for an hour.
Anyway may write up birth story . . .Thomas born 28/08/2010 weighing 5lbs and 4ounces, small but perfectly formed :j:j Now weighs 19lbs and 5 ounces

he's adorable sir monster, I'm sure in the next day or so, you'll feel a lot better. It must be tough not having him there next to you, Hope he comes out ASAP and you can give him as many cuddles as you like at home0

sir monster he is gorgeous x. I do really feel for you, DS blood sugar dropped quite low but they kept him with me as breastfeeding was going well at that time and just came to monitor his levels every couple of hours. He was OK after a day or two so hopefully your little man will be too.
Up early this morning, had an early night last night so OH has woken me up getting ready for work, DS is up too. Looks horrid out today, typical bank holiday. Gonna get housework done today and hopefully some coursework too, might take the kids out for a walk later if its not too miserable.0 -
Oh sir monster i had a little cry, he's adoreable! Really hope they let you out today so you can start to be a family at home. Hope you got some sleep in the end. xx
ETA: Just read your birth story, sounds traumatic no wonder you feel all over the place.Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -

woohoo I'm so pleased, I've managed to get a free medela mini electric breastpump from netmums and also an Elle Tens Machine which is £25, like this one I think - looks good and as they cost about that to hire I figured nothing to lose, I can lend out etc too then.Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0
