Hi
Can someone help me with advent comps?
I don't use the dailies, monthlies or advent comps - I just keep my own list but from entering today it appears there's some additional comps on the "advent thread" that haven't been posted on the main board (Neom Organics for one, unsure how many more there are) and I want to enter them but can't find them. I did try searching "neom" but couldn't find them that way either.
Could someone please point me in the right direction.
Thanks

You would take them from the advent thread, the first posts on there are lists of them all and they link to the appropriate post/site.

They're in alphabetical order too, so if you scroll down to N, the neom comp is thereLuck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

I am sorry to hear that Amilucky
I am totally with your statement in regards to post 4670 and i dont think half of whats happening should be without full consent and more interraction with the thousands of members that use the comps board, but may not read about changes being planned in the dicscussion area just because its an area they dont frequent
any changes that affect a majority, should be put to a majority and a majority verdict upon which are all agreed should be implemented NOT suggestions/decisions that suit a few are inflicted upon all to bear, for which i can totally see your wish to leave, but pls dont

Not all the advents have posts on the main board as if there isn't a question it's just causing more chaos and unneeded threads,I've tried my best to keep a rein on it and make sure everything runs as smooth as possible,?!?!??! lol, honest i did!
I've also tried my best to make sure each op gets the recognition they deserve by making sure if there is an op the post goes to them before anywhere else.
Most of these will finish xmas eve, i didn't want more work for the bg's moving what is well over 150 posts on xmas eve, when it could be made easier by keeping non answer posts in advents, obviously as today showed alot of people just don't/won't/can't search or don't even notice the advent thread.
To say today has been hectic is an understatement, the inital chaos should be just about over.......... xxxx#JusticeForGrenfell0 -
Thanks toniq for sorting out the advents which is a huge job and much appreciated (even if I don't use it).
Since when I first started comping, I've always kept my own list of dailies in my AOL favourites folder but rarely find the time to do them due to the number of normal comps there are to enter but I do try to make an effort with the advents.

im not sure either
it is the sci-fi ones in particular which bought me onto this discussion area in the first place, because they wer missing from my searching system
i think these should've been left where they were, along with a load of others ive noticed which are now in the regulars board, that a lot of ppl are going to miss out onthe idea i thought of sharing competitions was to have them placed where they gain the most exposure and this clearly shows that regulars is not the place for that!
i do not venture into regs myself very often because of the mess it is in tbh, as i think someone else i will quote shortly has also pointed outoh yes they are and oh no they're not !
things are being moved now, so it seems its discussion/game overwhat more are you going to do ?, or are you just planning ?, is it going to be discussed openly first ?you say atm you're just checking and letting people discuss it and that all the BG's have moved threads that they think need moving over, so [again] how come all the sci-fi ones have gone over to regulars and before you came along they stayed on the main board for the duration ?you keep repeating its all about talk and no action atm so just who is doing the action and not talking, because previously it was never seen as a need to move the likes of the sci-fi comps over to regsfor now the rules set out for each board by the MSE team should be followed and if the discussion here shows that some rules may need changing for the good of the board that can be looked at
At the end of the day
and this has been a long one for me, it may appear in all my previous replies that i am having a dig at you the most 'Glad' and i am sorry but this whilst it was not my intention to set out this way, may well now be the case, i only came here to find out why i couldnt find the comps im used to seeing, but unfortunately it certainly seems you have been most active in the discussion and action side of things, when before you joined as a BG 'the majority' of compers were seemingly quite happily getting by with the way things were [& not leaving] and the BG's with leaving the likes of sci-fi comps and others alonebut a discussion is for everyone to state their opinion so I've no problem with that
I may have only just joined the comps BGs but have been an MSE BG for longer than I care to remember
hopefully some of what I do here is good
but while there are rules for each board I'm going to follow them, the regs board will be tidied up, no changes to rules will be made ie moving the TAB etc threads or putting all sites comps in one thread unless the discussion shows people want it, and then only after discussion with the team, and I hope being active in the discussion shows I'm listeningI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. Not being funny to anyone on this topic, but, why can't things be left well alone?
We are all used to the threads on the comps board, as to finding our way around etc?
Can't it just be left as folk know and understand it please?................................... MSE MARTIN LEWIS ... :A ... THANK YOU.......................0 -
the point in your post is that the regs board isn't used because it is a mess so if it is tidied up that can change
It is not used because there is no need to use it when everything is nicely in one place.
It might change but not because it is best for the users but only because people would be forced to use it because the comps are not on the main board
threads linked to in the sticky threads in the regs board should be in the regs board
Why-It makes no difference to users of the regulars where the link takes them but users of the main board lose them.
If they are on the main board with a link from regulars then they are found by the 99.99999% of people who use the main board and the 0.00001% who only use the regulars one.
I posted this in the other thread but it probably should have been in this one.
(from a user point of view)
Site usage figures
Users visiting the comps section
Main comp thread 99.999999%
Main comp thread and regs 12.495% (or less)
Regs only 0.000001%
May not be exact but I would be prepared to bet almost everyone uses the main thread and almost no one uses just the regular one.
This is not a supermarket where things you want are always scattered around to force you to go all over the shop.
Logically all comps would be on the main thread, some would be on both and just about none would only be on regulars.
Only ones I can it as easier not to have on the main board are those with a daily entry for a daily prize (that does not include daily entry for a prize after a week etc).
Main board, sorted by date for say 31/12 should show everything ending then = job done, no need to trawl through monthlys and weeklys as well if everything is on the main board.
I only dabble at entering a few a day so it does not make a great deal of difference to me how they are arranged but if anyone can show how it is quicker for a user to enter comps scattered in at least 3 different places instead of just one then please do so.0 -
for now the rules set out for each board by the MSE team should be followed and if the discussion here shows that some rules may need changing for the good of the board that can be looked at
The rules where made when the board and site where significantly smaller. I suspect it was far easier to use when there were a couple of dozen regular comps and a lot fewer users of this board.
The number of competitions, the number of sites involved and the number of compers, has increased by a far, far greater % than anyone could ever have imagined.
In it's current state and design it doesn't work for the majority of people, it's a puzzle in itself.
We should be looking to change, to improve, to make it better.
So follow the rules, but don't dawdle on a discussion on improving it
Edited to add. The most significant change ever made, was the addition of a standard end date format on all comps. Not an MSE rule a BG rule0
