you might as well be, because for the last ??years the sci-fi comps have been posted to the main board, pm'd to gilla and a link put in the regs for those that look in there for a comp and then the OP is left to run its course until it shuffles off to GO like all the other hundreds of comps a day

they are not true dailies in the real sense of the word yes you can enter them dailie but it is the same prize and they have a set closing date

loads of ppl have thanked gilla's daily thread OP, but its hard to find many from the last 6 months or so, so unless this changes, its just another indication that, that is not how the 90 or so ppl that have currently lost out on the chance to spot the last sci-fi ps3 comp on the main board to be moved to the regs will ever find it, also only 4 ppl thanked grannybikers post in gilla's thread notifying everyone to a new one posted, so again another good indication that this is not 'how a lot of people find them'

one of the reasons i dont use the monthlies is because its within the 'regulars' which as ive said i dont venture into because of its [imho] unformatted shambles

although yours is a sticky to the top, i forget its there because i dont get into the regs to see it, althoough looking at it now, its huuuge, if someone was to come across that for the first time they may feel a bit put off trying them all only to find a load of dead links

im not having a dig, maybe they are all still current, buts posts 2+3 havent been updated for over 6 months and were started nearly 2 years ago, if they are still current from 2 years ago and you are checking them regular then fair play to you, but if i was looking at it the way it is i would suspect that most of them are probably defunct by now and so wouldnt bother

now i know the posts were created 2years ago, but i suspect some of the comps listed are much more recent than that, all i can suggest to maybe try and improve peoples perception/use of that thread is to include a date added and last checked at the end of each link so for e.g

Win footwear prizes [added 15/05/2009 - LC 22/08/2010]

that way people could see that its actually more likely to still be current
obviously i am not suggesting to amend the whole list, but perhaps something that if started with any new ones added from now, overtime it would become more clear

I am totally with your statement in regards to post 4670 and i dont think half of whats happening should be without full consent and more interraction with the thousands of members that use the comps board, but may not read about changes being planned in the dicscussion area just because its an area they dont frequent

any changes that affect a majority, should be put to a majority and a majority verdict upon which are all agreed should be implemented NOT suggestions/decisions that suit a few are inflicted upon all to bear, for which i can totally see your wish to leave, but pls dont

I'm not sure how I feel on the whole lets move x,y and z to the regulars board either. It seems like a few people agree with Glad and so its being given the go ahead. I would like to know what the other BG's opinion is as obviously they have more experience of the comps board, wasn't diva one of the ones to set it up? (no offence to you Glad, i think its great you are showing such interest ) Also not all regulars get moved over, the Glamour Daily for etc has always been on the main board.

yes Diva did help set up this board :T and as she went to so much time and effort to set up the regs board in the first place maybe it's only fair we have a try at getting it back on track before deciding whether it's still an asset or not

you say atm you're just checking and letting people discuss it and that all the BG's have moved threads that they think need moving over, so [again] how come all the sci-fi ones have gone over to regulars and before you came along they stayed on the main board for the duration ?

you keep repeating its all about talk and no action atm so just who is doing the action and not talking, because previously it was never seen as a need to move the likes of the sci-fi comps over to regs

and this has been a long one for me, it may appear in all my previous replies that i am having a dig at you the most 'Glad' and i am sorry but this whilst it was not my intention to set out this way, may well now be the case, i only came here to find out why i couldnt find the comps im used to seeing, but unfortunately it certainly seems you have been most active in the discussion and action side of things, when before you joined as a BG 'the majority' of compers were seemingly quite happily getting by with the way things were [& not leaving] and the BG's with leaving the likes of sci-fi comps and others alone

I am going offline now as i need to forget about MSE for the night

I gotta say I've not said anything about this. But I gotta agree with fnc63.

Moving loads of stuff off the main board is detrimental. Burying stuff in threads is detrimental. It's right, loads of comps will have far fewer entries. Could that be the plan? Hide them away from the masses, to give fewer people more opportunity?

If a comp has an end date for entry, then in my opinion it should be a thread of it's own on the main board.

Keep it simple, people like simple

fnc63 and Al Mac, i agree too - i think there was only 1 or 2 people who seemed to agree with the whole use of the regs board but loads of comps seem to have been moved over there without a clear definition of what a reg even was

Now I realise what happened to those 'missing' comps. I have never ventured to the regs board, as like many others I simply run out of time. At least if they were on the main board I used to enter them once rather than not at all......Do as Al Mac says!!

Note to self....don't leave all December comps until December next time:eek:

I have really benefitted from the enter button so please leave that where it is!! Thanks to all you great people posting comps. I'm sure the day will come when I get the chance and post comps myself but in the meantime.....
