I got the same email but the only email address in the "To" area was "competition@besttrainfares.info" so it sounds like they did the first 20 or so wrong and realised before they sent the rest.

I don't think what happened will increase how much SPAM you get. After all, I doubt that you're planning to SPAM other competition entrants and you can block or unsubscribe from emails you don't want unlike with annoying unsolicited phone calls.

Still not very good company policy, and I think that they should be told as they have a duty under the Data Protection Act not to display publicly, information which is held on there database :(

Is there a problem? some comps are not being moved to GAME OVER there are 1000's of comps from 25/11 24/11 23/11 22/11 12/11 11/11 10/11 and there maybe even more on the main board

I don't have time to do a full search so this may only be the tip of the iceberg :(

these are some that I have come across and there are far to many to PM to a BG ;)

from the older dates I don't know why some were missed but I've searched and moved to GO now :)

from the last few days it's just probably the BG who usually does them hasn't had time but I'll do those too :)

I wasn't saying that they haven't done anything wrong. Although, I doubt very much it's their policy to do that though as I pointed out I didn't have the same problem and it would seem like a simple change to make to do it correctly (or a small error in carrying out to process to get it wrong.)

I haven't read the Data Protection Act in full myself but if what you've said is 100% true then how are BT allowed to print a phonebook with people's names, addresses and phone numbers? I know you can opt out of being in the phone book but your details are published unless you tell them not to.

I'm not quite sure but I think BT has a special licence which is monitored and strictly regulated by OFTEL

as for emails and the Data Protection Act

    see:
    http://www.cre8asiteforums.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=16361
A couple of examples of illegal activities:
    1. If an email is sent to a whole list of folks by placing their emails in the "To:" or the "CC:" field, or otherwise where they can be seen by the recipients, you have broken the law because you have failed to protect the data.

If any recipient on the list were to use the email addresses as a ready-made list of folks with a specific interest, they too have broken the law, as they were not permitted to collect such data, even from an email, without having expressly stated a purpose for the collection of said data.
  • please can anyone help me how do i find comps ending on the 17/11 in gameover on mse

Go to the Game Over thread
Change the sort options at the bottom of the page to "Thread Title", "Ascending" and "Last Year" (so you don't get the ones for 2009)
Then you just need to find where the thread titles of E: 17/11 start

The ones ending on 17/11 currently start on about page 1609 of the 3497 pages I currently get using those search criteria

Unfortunately if people post comps and don't follow the E: dd/mm convention, their threads won't come up in the right place.....

I'll PM a board guide to get this moved to Comps Discussions :)
