Competitions Discussion Thread Part 12

I find the regulars board at the minute pretty confusing but I am relatively new here. I am, however, definitely all for all regular magazines and even ITV comps all being posted in one place though. I love the way the postals thread is used and i cannot see why regular magazines and ITV comps cant be used the same way.0

Great!
I don't have time (or the inclination) to read the Inn or discussions anymore, and I dont have time to go in Regulars so I knew nothing of these changes until I went looking for something that had vanished into thin air! I have since found I've missed a number of comps that would normally have been in my daily run through the board ( I comp "as they're posted" not by "end date")
I'm not a fan of the proposals, so I would vote NO if I were given the chance, but it looks like it's already been decided. Can we at least have a warning sticky somewhere visable to the people it's going to effect most please, ie those, like me, that just mind their own business and work through the main board daily.
Thanks
but I've got to say that the only threads I moved to regs I did yesterday afternoon, and you found them today, so hopefully you didn't miss too manyI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. I've been reading through all your posts, some great valuable comments here.
If it makes things easier for every section of the board, I am up for changing it. Thanks for all your help glad & all those helping to make comping easier for us. :A
Big thanks to all who contribute to the forums. Be lucky everyone and be safe!0 -

its a daily? so i could have been entering it everyday and increasing my chances of winning had it been posted in regulars and/or linked to gilla to go in the dailies thread?
the discussion includes daily regular comps as well as monthly and weekly comps as far as things going in the regs board goes.
.
The point I was making did not relate to dailies so where that competiton was posted had no relevance.0 -
purplecatlover wrote: »or it could be a sticky on the regular board if they dont want more stickies on main. once we all remember to look there it wouldnt be so bad. but yes new ones updated each week in the same place is exactly what i have been trying to get across when i have been saying the weekly mag comps for example would be ideal for going in one thread instead of as individual posts.
if it was me who originally brought that idea up in this discussion im sorry, as it seems that has caused a heap of confusion which has at least in part led to the ruffled feathers and toys being thrown out of the pram that the whole discussion has caused.
i would really like to see the regular board being used more. with an official deffinition of regular.
whatever happens happens, ive just been trying to make myself understood and now that at least one person has finally got exactly what ive been trying to say re daily/weekly comps being in one thread which is bumped instead of in lots of different posts ill keep quiet on that aspect.
thank you glad for discussing it and for sorting the regs board and trying to make it better and more lively. i wasnt working well,
therefore it was broken and did need looking at and fixing, and im sorry some people dislike that. i hope your not getting too many nasty pms over the matter.
I think it's a brilliant idea & tbh it's been mentioned a few times before by you & lots of others before
please don't keep quiet pcl,
don't know/can't say for others but i think we need everyones opinions,
that's what discussions are forif members don't say what they think/thier POV then they can't complain if changes happen

(I'm just going to search for last years advent thread to see if I can find an example, will edit when I find it!)
Edit: Found an example, do you mean like Amilucky?'s post here?
hiya, no, we mean like this..:)

The point I was making did not relate to dailies so where that competiton was posted had no relevance.
but my point is about dailies or register early comps
i havent even mentioned monthly weekly comps
all my concern is with daily competitions and unless they are bumped or you get lucky in seeing it there is a disadvantage for it being on the main board.
comps i believe should be on the regs board are things like kissmas, robinsons, luckygamer metro one i listed and any competition that you enter early to , to have a greater chance of winning.
another example is lbc which i was fortunate to win on,
you had to pre register your interest in the competition and every day they would pick a potential contestant,
these style comps should be rightfully so on the regs board0 -

Now I'm confused again :rotfl:
So you mean have a sticky like for the dailies, so the first post has the links to the threads for each one, and the individual thread is updated? So Chat has one thread, TAB has another, and all the answers for each time are added onto each thread? So the main sticky basically just acts like dailies does and directs you to the thread?
That was what I thought was meant in the first place, but when purplecatlover saidwhatever happens happens, ive just been trying to make myself understood and now that at least one person has finally got exactly what ive been trying to say re daily/weekly comps being in one thread which is bumped instead of in lots of different posts ill keep quiet on that aspect.0 -
Thank you for this Glad - can I put my two penneth in please
When I've finished for the day on the postal board I make a note of the page number and also the post number.
If posts were to be moved to GO then, & with my memory being the way it is, I would forget which was the last post I looked at. Especially if or when I go on holiday.
I always thank the OP when I have entered that particular competition. I suppose if there was an COLOR="Red"]entered button[/COLOR for each post in the postal section, like there is on the main boards, that may help.
A lot of people can't always see the 'end game' and therefore don't like change.
I think if you could do it on a trial basis for say 3months and then ask folk what they thought you might get a better response. But that's just my opinion.
As we are also talking about the main boards, I don't tend to go into the dailies very often because I keep a list of the dailies, from the main board, that I wish to enter. I have never been into the weeklies or the monthlies since I joined MSE

no not like amiluckys there like how for example this one is updated with a new link and/or what the new prize/answer is every day
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2820190
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2872572
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2762098
each days comp may end that day, or all entries may be for one prize with one end date.....but all are in one thread which is updated rather than each answer as a new thread.
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2828064
this one, updated and bumped weekly when the new answers are up though technically its a new comp each week with a new end date each week.
or how the blackberry messenger weekly was updated with new question and answer each week but all in one thread.
so for the magazines sticky thread yep it would have a link to
tab weekly thread
chat weekly thread
full house weekly thread
and the rest all of which would then be posted in that thread every week rather than as a brand new separate post individual post each week. so the sticky would only need adjusting when the updated with new answers weekly thread got too long and had to be replaced and the individual mag threads would be easy to find as they are linked in the sticky just like dailies/advents etc are linked atm.
was that what you were asking? or am i muddled? (which is entriely possible its late and i need bed)0
