place, then the mag posters could just add the new one to the threads for that particular magazine,
bit like the puzzler.com/tab one, then as you say after 50/100 pages have a new one made as we do on puzzler/postals but the link is added to the old thread as in puzzler/postals/tab,
then the thread wouldn't get to long ?
thats exactly what i meant all along one thread for each mag, with links (headings) in a sticky. im just rubbish at being understandable or concise lol thank you for understanding and makingit make sense for everyone for me0 -

monthly thread does need some work on it so will have to see what can be done to make it look better and easier to use and what exactly will be going in there

this has been tried before glad and because its within a thread, then when a post is moved to game over then the whole thread gets moved
I can move individual posts out of one thread into another thread, honest
I think it's worth a tryas the old comps are moved out the thread won't grow as quickly and you'll be able to keep the same thread for longer just with up to date comps on it,
and if anyone thinks it's a good idea, once a week I could move a few older pages of chat over tooI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. I have just been reading back and someone asked about the old comps ending list we had for a few weeks/months before we all started using the same format for expiry dates in the title. I am sorry but have forgotten who asked, but I had mentioned it a few days ago. And how much we kinda resisted that change, but I am sure if we run a poll now, no-one would want to stop doing the expiry dates.Do you all remember how torn we all were when Diva went through the entire main board adding the Expiry date format to the title of all the comps posted already, and how often at first people had to gently remind others how it worked when a new comp was posted ???
This sounds like it will be a very similair situation, but will be for the benefit of us all, and will eventually make it easier to stay on top of comps you want to enter.
I can't imagine not being able to display the comps forum how I want and comp by date ending anymore, I am so used to it now, but I dreaded the thought of getting used to it at first.
atm, when I have posted weekly entry comp, I have posted it on main and linked to Gillas thread, so that peeps who check both boards get a chance. I too hated the threads getting locked in regs, and welcome that change.
happy comping everyone, xxxI just checked the stickies, and the Expiry Date format change sticky is still there too. Can't believe it altered over 2 years ago now

I love the idea of a postals sub section. It could run then virtually like a mini main board, as it is I very really venture onto that thread, as its so long, but I could skim a section with individual posts, only open ones that interested me, and use the enter button.I may be missing something myself here but how are the Regular comp ending dates searchable when they are posted E: DAILY E: E: WEEKLY MONTHLY
this would only work if the comps were tagged DAILY - MONTHLY - WEEKLY at the end of the title and comp end date at the front as is now on the main board
umm, that why I kinda got in the habbit with the few comps I found, putting the normal expiry format date, followed by - prize/enter - Daily/weekly at the end. Then I pop the info on the end of Gilla's thread. For example
E: 31/04 goodie bag of dog treats - prize daily
That way it they showed up, if you searched for daily or end date, or just kept up with the daily links thread.
I think that maybe adding the expiry even if we had to add guessed or estimate, to the title and then putting the Reg info at the end, would actually let us search the Regs board easier eventually, similair to how you can display the main now. Hopefully that would be a bnus if the board was to be more efficent/attractive to use and got busier. My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly

blackmidnight wrote: »Korky, this is the comp that i made the whole discussion about in the first placing so that by putting it in regs it was just going to be duped as the main link is the same for the whole month but each every wekk has it's own link as well if that makes some kind of sense. I didn't understand why it was moved to regs as the link isn't the same and the prizes aren't the same.
.
this is where all the confusion about what counts as a regular comes in and causes problems atm.0 -
to those that think this is a bad idea i really cant see why
for example take a look at this comp
its a fantastic prize but its somewhere hidden on the main board
it finishes tonight and a new one starts tomorrow
thanks for linking that, i havetn even really started on comps ending tomorrow, had missed that one in my run through last night and have now entered. Its a daily competition.
The point was weekly and monthly ones not daily.
its a daily? so i could have been entering it everyday and increasing my chances of winning had it been posted in regulars and/or linked to gilla to go in the dailies thread?
the discussion includes daily regular comps as well as monthly and weekly comps as far as things going in the regs board goes.
the issue about things going in a single thread (eg the mag comps) which is updated weekly instead of separate posts is a separate discussion that has been trhown into the mix too.0 -
and if you need any help we'll do it between us

think i will need some help with sorting monthlies glad:rotfl:so many comps in there:eek: when i first set it up it took me a week to do, whenever you have finished in the regs then let me know and will see what can be done
only prob i would worry about the moving old comps (postals thread) is would they be then easy to find and search for (say if someone wanted to find a comp they had won from) and wouldnt that thread then get huge with the amount of expired comps or wouldnt that matter?
also would love to get some more feedback from the regular postal users, see they are being very quiet tonight!:rotfl:what do they think of this thread for expired comps, would it work?
it actually would help the prob a lot if it can be done0 -
Hi
I'm really sorry that amilucky feels the way he does he's been a big help to me sending me lists of threads with the wrong title format etc
no big changes are being made and things are still being discussed, all the BG's send threads to the reg board if they see one with monthly etc in the title, and MSE added that board for that purpose, since then the boards number of compers has exploded and its been harder to keep up with al the threads posted every day
I have no intention of doing anything more until I've worked my way through every comp on that board, and that may well take a couple of weeks or morethen it will be nearly xmas and I've taken note that people would rather wait until Jan when things are quieter
I moved some over yesterday, but only ones that are linked in gillas list, if people ask to have them linked in there then they should be posted in the regs board, that was the purpose of gilla doing that thread so that she could link to threads in the reg board, as far as I can see one person missed out on enteringand one person has left, although he did find the comps, for that I'm sorry
surely the best thing would be, in the new year, to try using the regs board the way MSE set it up for, and then take a vote on how it works, it was set up when there were far fewer comps and far fewer members so it may not work now but let's at least try,
every MSE change has been greeted with people saying 'I hate this' etc (I hated the bright green too) but after a while don't even notice it
thanks for reading and every comment and suggestion is appreciated xxI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. if as toniq says,
"Edit: Also the last 6 stickies are all ones that could be incorporated into Vg's guide and hence could disappear xxx That would def tidy up the main board xxx"
then the stickys could be as Glad said "all in one post/sticky" with "Please Read" as it would contain the
Comping Guide - Getting Started & Other FAQs,
How To Find Competitions Ending By Date
Free to enter competitions only please
Expiry Date Format - Urgent Please Read
etc,
which could leave a space/sticky
(as in the postals sticky)
for a
Up dated regularly Weekly/Monthly/Specials email Magazine Competitions
then as said in the sticky the headings for them
with us all updating the new ones each week in the same place,
it would make it easier to find them all each week/month for newbs/members etc
i thinkplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0
