    Now I'm confused again :rotfl:

So you mean have a sticky like for the dailies, so the first post has the links to the threads for each one, and the individual thread is updated? So Chat has one thread, TAB has another, and all the answers for each time are added onto each thread? So the main sticky basically just acts like dailies does and directs you to the thread?

That was what I thought was meant in the first place, but when purplecatlover said I thought I'd got it wrong before? :o

:) no, i don't mean like the stickys has links to each thread,
the op who does the mag puzzles like they do now would be posting the mag answers like they do now,
    only,
they would add them on to the mag heading each week in the sticky, ........

    which could leave a space/sticky
    (as in the postals sticky)

    for a

Up dated regularly Weekly/Monthly/Specials email Magazine Competitions

sticky - Updated Weekly/Monthly/ Specials email Magazine Competitions

then underneath in the sticky the headings for each mag..

    Weekly Chat Magazine Puzzles answers

(then tttjay updates the new ones each week on the thread
as she does now on main board but adds it to the headied one)

Weekly Take a Break Magazine answers

Weekly Pick me Up Magazine answers

    etc for the weekly ones

    then,

Upated Monthly Puzzler.com Puzzle book answers

Updated Monthly Take a Break Puzzle book answers

Updated Fiction Feast (Take a Break) answers

Updated Take a Break Specials answers

    etc,

    :)

but my point is about dailies or register early comps
i havent even mentioned monthly weekly comps
all my concern is with daily competitions and unless they are bumped or you get lucky in seeing it there is a disadvantage for it being on the main board.
comps i believe should be on the regs board are things like kissmas, robinsons, luckygamer metro one i listed and any competition that you enter early to , to have a greater chance of winning.

another example is lbc which i was fortunate to win on,
you had to pre register your interest in the competition and every day they would pick a potential contestant,
these style comps should be rightfully so on the regs board

    I don't disagee with that.

I think the suggestion to leave until after Xmas is a great one, lots of comps mean lots of eyes ALL over the sections...and we can all help tidy up during that time by clicking expired on out of date regular comps can't we? To that end, maybe a temporary sticky in the main board explaining this tidy up and inviting people to come here to discuss and also for help finding the trash and marking it for GO would help while there's a big population?
Maybe a gentle hint that when smeone wins and thanks in IWIW, they also try and click expired if the comp has indeed died and isn't regular?

It's silly to expect one or two peeps to tidy up the mess left behind by hundreds of keen posters, much better we all do our part.

It's never going to be tidy or perfect here, to many different types of comps and lots of new people trying to get into the whole comping thing will see to that. I have something in the back of my head whispering about pigs ears and silk purses lol

I have a sneaky feeling that FB and twitter are going to be the next problem RE regular type comps if we're not careful too. There's several random but regular ones running now, some multi dailies, and some single entry (be a fan). They are bound to become more complex as they are so new right now...maybe even take the majority of comps place quite soon?

I'm not sure why more sections and stickies worries people, surely it's better well organised and categorised than a heap of mixed stuff ? People get used to any system eventually, you never get used to clutter unless you cluttered it personally :)

Wherever you got to tidying up Gad, tell us here and I'll spend some time helping backwards frm there or whatever way you're heading :)

more sections/stickies would be fine but we've been told we aren't allowed any more stickies on main comps board and same with sub-forums

Just thought I'd add my views.

With postals I work through the thread thanking as I go and never really come across any out of date comps.
I bookmark the page I end at and then restart from there so deleting old comps really wouldn't make any difference.
However if peeps are pages behind it does make sense and would free up space so that ppd didn't have to renew the thread so often.
(You would than have more time to enter them ppd ;):D)

The weekly mag comps on the main board.......
I actually think a dedicated thread for each would be a great idea, the puzzler and tab threads work perfectly on the main comps board so why not the mags too?

I rarely go into the regs thread, it's a bit like the twilight zone, I never know where to start and feel kinda intimidated by it all.
Generally, if a monthly/weekly/daily comp appears on the main board I bookmark it asap, 'cos once it disappears into "there" it's gone forever
    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
You all do a fab job keeping everything going btw.
    Thank you :T:T:T:T:T:T

ETA: Could we also do a single thread for the other mags? eg Glamour and Sugar, I tend to miss some of these when there's a separarte thread each month.

Glad, just wanted to add my thanks. I think the regular board already looks infinitely more logical/usable. Will be great once you've had time to completely sort it (don't envy you that job!)

I agree that one thread per website (linked to Gilla/PPDs dailies/weeklies/monthlies) would probably be the best way of working so long as the link is the same each day/week/month, and even if the prize changes.

I think the magazines all having their own thread would work but would take some getting used to for me when I'm playing catch up (most of the time)....but I'd find a way to make it work I'm sure.

I'm less sure about the ITV comps all going together though, be it all in one thread or one thread per programme. Mainly because they are open for a much shorter time than the magazines, etc. and I am convinced I would miss some...sometimes when I'm a bit behind I do ITV by end date and it would take a bit longer to go into each thread and look for a specific date than it would to just read the search results. But that's just my opinion.

I don't really use postals enough to comment.

Think that's all I can say for now. I'm sorry some people are upset by any changes and hope they at least stick around to see how it goes....once people are used to any changes I think it will be much better for everyone!
  • The competition forum is very slow, it was like it lastnight and again today!

I have 2 broadband connection (BT Business and Virgin Media) and both are the same. Pages taking 30+ seconds to load!

    Anyone else????
