must say, it sounds a good idea, then all the mags postings would be together in one place,

if, let's say the Full House Magazine
(which is posted sep on main board (as with other weekly mags)

is posted in Regulars would we just add the new posting answers to the weeks before as in let's say last weeks
    (only an example)

    E: 16/06 Full House Issue 6

    then the following week

    E: 23/06 Full House Issue 7

& keep the thread going for them,
it would keep all the mag answers together save peeps searching for the particular mag/issue postings ??

but then wouldn't we still have a problem with the comps on the first page being expired after a few weeks? it's fine for them to be posted in regs but do we really have to have them all in one thread? that's what i don't like now lol

  • tis all a bit confusing tbh :o to me anyway:o

the puzzler.com thread has old ones that are out of date from 1st page & after,
same as the Take a Break monthly ones from the 1st page & after,
as the new ones are posted/added on so the old ones don't go to
    GO,

the weekly mags/monthly fiction feast/3 monthly tab specials are posted separatly on main board so they can go to GO when finished,
so if they were posted in the regulars then the thread would be ongoing like the puzzler etc threads, which means the comps wouldn't go to Go when ended ??

unless the op went back to delete the old ones out of date ? or pm a BG to remove ??
this happens in the postals/texts thread as well :D

postals texts need to continue being posted as they are.

what would be the problem with them staying and not going to go each week so long as the end date is posted in the same way it is in the monthly ones and postal thread? the whole thread is moved to go with a link to the new thread when it hits the number of posts that mean it requires moving. people can keep track of which they have entered by clicking thanks when they enter same as we do in those threads that work like that atm.

so a tab thread, a thats life thread, a chat thread etc, all of which move to go when a new thread is started, with a minimum of chat in same as the other threads and postals. wouldnt need to ahve any of these threads stickied if they were in regs since they would stay on the first couple of pages there for a while and would be easier to find than amidst the average of 11 new pages of comps posted on main everyday.
So, for exmaple, should I post the sudoku selection in the TAB magazine thread or should it be posted seperately? It has an end date and the answer is different each month? Should we stop posting these comps in one big thread and have them all as individual threads?

please no..those threads, imo works really well as it is, easy to keep track, hard to find on main though so if i want to find one and no one has posted in a while to get me a subscription email i tend to give up searching the hundreds of posts that eg take a break search finds.

exactly...i know i suggested similar at least a few times before (in the company thread discussion eg when that changed and the daily became weird lol)

re searching for comps posted to avoid dupes in threads which are updated...you dont have to read thoruhg each one...a "search this thread" is something i find very successful and its much easier to find one post amidst one thread than amidst the 100s of results form a comps forum search or even worse a forum wide search. i think it would remove some dupes...as eg the dickinsons real deal ...it would be simple to check back a couple of posts to see if someone else has already posted it, and if 2or3 people post it at the same time it wouldnt matter as much as wouldnt need to wait for a bg to be available to merge the poster could simply delete or state in it that its above.

hi, we only have the puzzler.com & take a break monthly mags all in one each thread & then the latest ones are added to the last page,

the weekly ones are posted separately,
so if there was an ongoing thread for each of the weekly mags in regs then
the new mags for the new week would be posted on last page just to update the new puzzles/answers ?

    eg:

    Ongoing Chat Magazine Puzzles (Weekly)
& tttjay would add the new comp on ??

but it would mean each mag having it's own thread & being updated each week on the reg board instaed of posting a new one each week in main board

yes but why is that a problem?

so the first page expires after a few weeks...everyone knows to go to the end of the thread to find the recent comps so what does it matter if the first page is out of date?

its not a problem in postals, or the current puzzler and tab threads is it? whats the difference? (sorry not picking just dont understand hence the questions)

with a rule that chat is to be kept to a minimum. thats exactly how is see it working and imo it would make working through main board comps way less daunting (though admitedly regs more daunting as there would be more there).

thanks for above, seems discussing here could iron out potential problems before anything happens and you are the ones that know what works best :T

another observation though from looking back at yrs old threads in the regs board,if someone posts a comp that is for eg
'register with our site and every month we will choose one new member to receive a prize'
firstly there's no end date so would probably get posted in regs, and would just sink down to the bottom of the board (unless someone duped it and it was bumped up when merged)
does anyone ever go that far back to look for these types of comps?

or a ?end date might be put in the title to allow it to be on the main board, but then it gets moved to GO unless the title gets edited by someone

    Hi,

Hope this is the right place to post this question.

Does anyone else worry about putting your date of birth into these questionnaires to enter prize draws?? I had a company do a credit search on me once without my permission and i know it was from one of these survey sites because i made up a date of birth! even so it appeared on my credit file and i have contacted equifax/experian but they cannot remove it so i have to try to contact the company themselves which has been difficult so far!

I know they are not supposed to do this and I will get it removed eventually, hopefully not many companies do this, what worries me about putting all my details into these sites as well as my DOB is the risk of identity theft etc.

    How does everyone else feel?
to answer the first part of your post, putting the DOB on that draw or not wouldn't have stopped them doing the search the only reason the DOB became an issue is that it enabled you to identify the searcher

as to the second point, I often wonder why some sites need a DOB unless the prize is only suitable for say over 18's but we all need to be aware of the dangers of identity theft and decide for ourselves wether a site is secure or the prize is worth it :)

that would be fine if it's what you wanted :)

or you could do a new one weekly as you do now with the old ones going to GO as they do now :)

tbh i can't understand half of the reg board :o
have just been looking through it again & some are weeklies, some
monthly, some dailes, there's the 1st page links for most of them & then loads posted underneath :o i find it very confusing sorry :)
no, i never go that far back as sometimes some of them are posted on main board & unless someone bumps it to say it's in regs or has sent a link to whoever i would't know it's been in regs :o
