Just a thought, but if a comp is DAILY WEEKLY ETC. Why not say that in the titles? That way a seach would do the biz for a lot of people.

Personally I have lists of regular comps that I enter saved in notepad and (if I ever get time) will make a little webpage out of them ...but this is nice only because I don't enter all regular comps.

This whole subject is very hard to get 100%, for example...would Loose women be weekly? Would Dickinsns real deal be daily? They are, but are in effect seperate comps...but for my money all TV comps like that could use a sub section to make them easy t find....big prizes and similar rules etc.

If we all had a looky though old stuff and repoted expired ones would that make it easier, or make a lot of work? I'm up for a sping clean :)

something else to think on :D

maybe the weekly TAB, Chat etc threads could be in the Reg board (just a thought really) they are popular threads and still would be in the reg board, maybe it would make the reg board a place more people frequented if it had some of the popular threads there

I'm just throwing out thoughts though so let me know what you think :)

That's a good idea for livening it up, though I'm wondering how many posts will end up on the main board asking where the threads have gone! :rotfl:

People don't like change, makes them go like this

I suppose they are technically regular, because they're all new versions of the same competitions, I guess you could say that things like the individual Chat, Take a Break, etc. threads could be classed as regular, depending on the definition of regular, I think that's the trickiest bit, defining what's what.

the threads in the reg board do have weekly, monthly in the title :)

I'm all for putting the threads you mention in there too, as has been mentioned it would liven that board up :D and it is quite a small board compared to the main board

when I've worked my way through each year of old threads it would be a MASSIVE help if some of you old pros ;) could look through the ones I'm unsure of and check if there is still a live comp :):)

people dont like change but we can educate them
ok there will be teething problems but eventually we'd get there
tbh theres no difference in asking for a merge and moving a thread over to the regs board.
the end date was successful and i believe a bg took a lot of time in changing the way posts were posted with the new system of end dates

I completely agree with you, it's just when you think of the kind of posts that will start to appear (even if there was a specific post on the stickies that explained it all) if everything changed!

I'd love to be proved wrong, but at first I can imagine a lot of people realising the comps they normally do (if say itv ones went over) are missing and posting to ask where they've gone, it would take time and, more importantly, patience, to educate everyone.

I'm also concerned that it could all get a bit nasty as sometimes people can say something and it's taken the wrong way and such like, maybe it if all happened there needs to be a nice friendly generic message that can be c&p'ed and posted to anyone with the same query?

Edit: As a side note, do you reckon any of the stickies on the first page can be amalgamated? There's 12 stickies and only 20 posts, it can be quite daunting to see so many stickies at the top of the page to read through and maybe people would be more inclined to read them if there was just one posting information one?

The main problem is the definition of "regular" which MSE won't define for us so we're all working under our own guidelines, without there being any consistency.

I'll just highlight a few of the comps in the regulars that I have been involved in posting which highlight some the currrent problems:

Chelsea FC "regular" competitions: These are posted as a WEEKLY thread in regulars. The problem with these is that they are not always every week. Sometimes they run for a week, sometimes two weeks, sometimes one and a half weeks. I am currently (wrongly or rightly) also posting each one individually in the main section as I personally see them as separate competitions.

TK Maxx £1000 "regular" competitions: These are posted (wrongly or rightly) as a WEEKLY thread in regulars and I am also (wrongly or rightly) posting them separately each week on the main board, ensuring I have linked them so duplicates are avoided. One of the problems I mentioned with this being solely weekly is that there is a 9 hour gap on Monday mornings between the previous draw closing and the new one opening so people who did their weeklies first thing on a Monday morning would always miss out.

I personally enter comps by end date so like every separate draw to be posted separately so I can just go through and enter. Not everybody else works this way though. If I had to bookmark threads or remember to work through lists of dailies, weeklies and monthlies it would be a nightmare for me. I also feel that the "enter" button doesn't really work with the regulars section.

Thanks, sorry, I must have missed that :o I stopped keeping up with some of the threads for a bit so I could try and keep up and get myself infront with the comps before the Advents start in December :D I realised it was a lost cause though trying to keep up so will just muddle along bitting and bobbing! :D

aww no just wanted you to know I was looking at it but with the team being so busy at the moment I don't want to pester them just yet with my idea about the comp stickies, the idea btw is to do what I've done in the Arms, have one sticky called 'PLEASE READ - posts by the MSE team' and merge them all, new announcements would have their own sticky for a certain length of time before being merged into this thread :)

I know what you mean, it's extremely confusing as to what should be what.

I agree about liking every single competition to be posted as seperate though (that was one of my suggestions a few months ago) but I only said weeklies and monthlies to be posted seperately as at the moment some comps are still posted with the next days ending date and (00.01) in the title due to threads being moved over for the day ending on the morning of the day they end rather than the morning after. So dailies could be the only thing in regulars and be updated every day as usual? Should be really easy to keep up with dailies in there as there probably wouldn't be many pages, if even a full page.

The only problem is getting people to post each competition as a seperate entity rather than with the last/a guessed ending date and updating as with the dailies on the main board at the moment.
