Totally agree with you, if there was any risk that my driving was a danger, to me and / or others i would stop like a shot.
But the consultant has stated in black and white that he supports me,
Fortunately for me, a wonderful MS Nurse has been on the phone and will be able with the consultant to look at who made reports on me and what was said, and also contact dvla and ask for a more detailed explanation to what they have given me.0 -
some painkillers can affect you but a lot dont depends on the person, i dont drive atm waiting to hear on dla over the higher rate for a car but i no myslef i wouldnt drive if i felt i wasnt capable of doing so like iam sure many people would,
also all medication is on the applacation form to dvla
its the boy racers that shouldnt be allowed to drive for many people a car is freedom because they can get to places they couldnt normally get to and gives them there lives back to a degree
i dont no the difference between left and right if i was giving directions to someone else but yet i no where iam going myslef, so shpuld i be allowed to drive
If you ever do, will you let me know when you go out so I can stay off the roads!
People who are taking medications and who rely on their cars will and do have the same thought process as someone who has had a drink.
"I know when enough is enough"
"I wouldnt drive if I were a risk to anyone"
"Anyone who knows me knows I wouldnt drive if I didnt feel good enough to".
Heard it all before.0 -

i cant read out direction to someone but i no where iam going, i have dyslexia and dysbracia how many people arent tested for this but do drive, 10% of population have dyslexia rember that before you make silly statments saying you will stay of the roads0 -

On one thread you have people saying how bad they feel and that they filled out the DLA forms stating they feel dizzy and often fall over etc etc etc.
On another thread the exact same people are talking about driving!
If you cant drive after smoking a joint or downing two pints of lager......then noone should be driving if they take strong painkillers.
OP.....I dont know why you cannot drive although I am sure the DVLA are not taking licences from people for no good reason.
Most people have common sense and dont drive for the period of starting/changing/altering there drug regimes which is what you are supposed to do.
I am on a med 80x stronger than morphine but its delivered 24 hours a day in small hourly amounts to give me maximum pain relief with minimum side affects, most of my drugs I take at night so I have 14-18 hours before I might drive again, again common sense plays its part, why take the meds that are to be taken once a day on a morning when you need to get on with things.
I am a better driver than most and I have taken the advanced driver course, computor driving assessment etc. to make sure of it because I was disabled in car accident caused by two bad drivers.0 -

You are not in any position to decide who can or cannot drive....and giving some people false hope is not a nice thing to do.
Visit a regional mobility center and talk to the professionals about the aids available to allow disabled people to drive before you make yourself look even more of an idiot than you already are, you know nothing about the aids available to allow most physically disabled people to drive with the obvious exception of blindness/epilepsy etc. which prevent anyone from driving if you use your common sense.0 -

Why do you feel the need to answer me with name calling and a belittleing attitude like you are some sort of authority on who can and who cant drive?
I dont take advice anyway from anyone who thinks driving after taking a drug which is "80 times stronger than Morphine" (what a good laugh that gave me....driving on that is idiotic!!) anyway!
Your brain is obviously addled!0 -

I answered it with my opinion.
What does dyslexia have to do with knowing which side is left and which side is right?....which is what you said?0 -

because thats the reason why with the dyspraxia which is really bad, causes cordination and balance problems and clumsyness, you would no that if you looked it up0 -
I've had a dyslexic in the car with me who couldn't give me clear directions because they found it hard to tell me whether I needed to go left or right. If they'd been on their bike, they'd have had no problem going the right way, but telling me? not a hope.
Not all dyslexics have this problem, but enough do to make it recognisable.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

erm i don't drive if i don't feel right, i refuse to drive in fact.
I don't smoke drugs, and if i did have a drink the car keys always stays in the pot.
As it has been said earlier, both my consultant and myself feel that i am still safe to drive, BUT it is now out of our hands and i await DVLA to make their decision, if they say no then that is it, i can only appeal.
But based on what discussions i had with my consultant earlier in the year, and what he wrote in a letter to me, i was just quite shocked to be told to stop driving and hand my licence in.
I knew something wasn't right, call it gut instinct, to be told stop driving based on the information they were given, then when my consultant rang me to apologise that he ticked the wrong tick box..
So.. lets recap i don't drive if i feel weird, never have never will.
I don't do illegal drugs in fact the only drugs i take now are Gabapentin and that's only if i can remember to take at night.
I do not and never have drink and drive.
There is no one on here can tell me if i can drive or not, only the DVLA can make that decision.
Which i am still impatiently waiting to hear about..0
