the regional mobilty center is the way to go hun, I and pwales have gone down that route and its worked for us.
Did you ask motability for a assessment?
In my experiance they have always been very helpful in that repect and to me its the only safe way to continue to drive, they even pay for the assessments.
Life sucks when your disabled and as every skill/ability leaves you get further into the pit of depression etc. and if you can be assessed as able to drive it lifts you.0 -

Hiya motability don't want to know.
A bit of an update.
Dial - Amber lovely girl fantastic spent hours yesterday reading the dvla website on MS - driving.
There was nothing about revoking licence with MS, just adaptions, she gave me a list of things to ask and say and i rang dvla up again yesterday, and i wormed out of them what was going on.
My consultant was the only one contacted, they tried to say he said i was unfit to drive, but would accept another report from him or from my gp.
So i'm expecting the gp to call me today to discuss this, but i've only seen her once as i have just moved to the surgery.
Revelations when i rang my MS nurse, who promptly got hold of the med sec, who rang me immediately, with my file in her hands.
She had the report in front of her, and said there was nothing on the report to say i was unfit, she said the report is a 9 questions with tick box answers of yes or no.
she read them out to me, all was in support of me continuing to drive.
She felt that dvla have made their own mind up based on questions that were not that relevant to MS.
I need my consultant to write to dvla and let them know how he feels i would be capable of driving, he is still very supportive, BUT wants dvla to write to him asking him to write a report, dvla say they will not.
But med sec said my consultant will be in Friday and she will ask him to call me.
She said that he will help where he can time allowed as he has patients to see.
So if my consultant is able to write a report, and the same for my gp (even tho the only info she has on me is my previous reports and info from my old gp surgery, she has only met me once.) I might get my licence back before having to appeal.
The local MP has also been involved as the paperwork from dvla was terrible, 2 and a half lines of we have information....
no clear detailed information at all, says you can appeal, but doesn't tell you how they want you to tell them ( apparently you write in)
I also have to write to them to see this report, as i would like to see what they is on it that they feel makes me unfit, when the consultants med sec (who has dealt with this lots of times with other MS patients) saw the form, she could not understand why i was revoked based on 9 questions. 9 questions that was in favour of me continuing to drive.
Also left message with assessment center to see if i can get independant assessment done. Hopefully will get a call back today on that too.0 -
but you only 'feel capable', as do drunks and drug addicts. the DVLA is thinking of your safety, and others.Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000
current savings: 20,500 (target hit yippee!)
Debts: 8000 (student loan so doesnt count)

well anyone can appeal anything, so if you have the inclination, go ahead, good luck in your decisions.
the only thing i would add is the dvla are a law unto themselves and dont care what corroborating evidence you may have.Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000

Thank you.
No one has given me a medical, no one has seen me, examined me, tested me.... hard to judge someones ability without that don't you think.
I will go through the correct channels, and fight what i believe is wrong.0 -
My daughter is anorexic, and had a particularly nasty consultant who wrote to DVLA saying that her licence should be removed because 'she couln't concentrate'!
After lots of letters, etc, she was sent to an assessment centre where she underwent concentration tests, tests to see if she was physically strong enough to drive, and a driving test.
She passed all tests with 100% accuracy, in the fastest time they had ever recorded, and her reactions were deemed to be 'better than excellent'.
She got her licence back!0 -

I spoke to them yesterday, they will not be able to help me unless/until i appeal, they said they have no facility to test/assess me as they have no private land. (this is vassal center Bristol)
If i appeal then i should be able to get a very temporary disabled provisional licence (from dvla) so that they can take me on the road)
also spoke with my gp, and she agreed with me, because i am new to her practice, she doesnt know me at all yet and it would be unfair to do a report on someone she doesn't know - which i do agree with.
So its all down to today with my consultant ringing me. *fingers crossed.
But i did get a letter from Dawn Primarolo saying that they have now written to dvla for copies of my reports, and a better explanation of what i have been given. she states she cannot demand i get my licence back (of course) so having my MP helping i should have a better explanation of why then revoked the licence rather than saying based on evidence... they should now supply the evidence.0 -
OMG an update
Just had my consultant on the phone.
So apologetic.
He has looked at the form he filled in (the 9 tick boxes)
he ticked the wrong box, he can see what he did and he knows he ticked the wrong one.
He said he will be ringing DVLA today to tell them and he will be writing to them to say it was his error. He said he will make sure they know it was his c0ckup and that I am capable and able to drive safely.0
