Aargh - your family are getting MY blood pressure up!!! Tell your dad to sort it out, or I'll be over there to smack him across the face with a carrier bag full of presents!

No, you're not being unreasonable, he quite clearly is, but as you've said before you try to keep the peace for the kids sake. Just try to ignore it, count to ten, and give thanks that you're normal. You deserve medal for your peace-keeping!
  • Christmas cards all written and all delivered or posted apart from the ones for my family (aunts, uncles and cousins). Pleasingly, other than needing a box of cards for DD's class I will have more than enough cards for next year so don't need to buy any in the sales. OH and DD have delivered all the cards and presents for his family, apart from one or two. Our bedroom is looking much better without piles of presents everywhere.

Got a few parcels to wrap this afternoon and I am going to attempt to arrange the baskets I've put together in some form of presentable fashion. Wish me luck as making things look nice is not my strong point! Then after we've eaten we're going to put the Christmas tree up.

Hi Choc-I'm sickeningly impressed &... totally unorganised. OH runs own business (fledgling business) and we've had such a mad year with illness, death, hassle, solicitors, court etc etc. We have bought some presents but they are at work still not wrapped. We have cards but they aren't yet written-house looks like a bomb has hit it and it's very stressful!!! but you are very impressive!!! Please send me some of your organisation across the internet.. I really need it!!! We have had 2 lotsw of visitors today and tidied up beforehand, but you can't really tell where now. Kids have made the house look like santa's b***dy grotto and there's only just over a week to go!!!
I have, however, managed to make my christmas cake today-finally!!! and now the kids have decided to make some paper mache to make their own pig money savers.
    Thank God for laminate flooring!!!

  • Lol, I probably sound more organised than I really am. Haven't wrapped anything for OH or the kids yet, have done the vast majority of my shopping on the internet so no hassle there and I don't cook Christmas dinner (we go to my Mam's) so nothing to prepare there. OH's Grandma always gives us a cake for Christmas so that's not to do and I'm not even at work this year - being there does give me a LOT to do - this year feels like a skive really!

Got the tree up yesterday and it looks quite nice. Think i huffed OH as he kept trying to add ancient bits of thin tatty tinsel or old baubles that aren't the same colours as I have on the tree and have just somehow escaped being thrown in the bin. Felt a bit sad as for the last two years at school I've taken all my class's photos in their school play outfits and put them in those clear plastic baubles. DD was in my class both of those years so we put those on the tree but feel a bit sad that she won't get one this year as her teacher is (a) a man and they don't see to "do" details like that and (b) bone idle.

Off to my Mam's to help her clean up today - back later to catch up on everyone's diaries.

Hi everyone, you still sound more organised than me. DD1 was poorly in the night and has got into my bed this morning just before I left the house-she is 14 and will be ok for a couple of hours or so!!!
Late for work -good job OH works for himself. Traffic diversion due to an accident, helped to make us even later!!!!! loads to do and need to get back home asap to check progress of DD1. Hope everyone is having a good day.

  • Poor DD! I hope she's feeling better now. I saw the pigs on the sealed pot challenge - are they the ones your kids are making? They look fab!

Stayed at my Mam's all day and wrapped her Christmas presents. She kept me supplied with cups of tea and homemade cake so we both benefitted and it meas she won't disappear to wrap presents for two hours on Christmas Day like she did last year.

Got my credit card statement today. I have to start paying interest from next month - it estimates it at £39 - eek! Wish I'd balance transferred to Egg now when I had the chance! I don't think it will be quite as high as that as hoping to pay £800 off this month, but still!

Cashed in £25 at cashback rewards today; will hopefully be paid out at the end of the month and will be a start towards cash for Free Christmas challenge. Won't add it to my signature until received though.

Oof! Baby is kicking or punching my bladder repeatedly - it really takes your breath away. looking forward to midwife appointment on Wednesday and $d scan on Saturday to find out which way he's lying. DD was telling me about her friend's baby brother who was born last week. Apparently the mother brought him onto school for the kids to see. Was he cute I asked? DD replied "No, he looks like an alien and his Mam still has a fat tummy" she replied. I think she might be sadly disappointed when her own baby brother comes along...especially if she thinks I will be slim a few days later!

Hi Choc. DD still seems poorly but not as bad as this a.m. I managed to get home earlier today to spend some time with her and to make sure she was ok. House still looks like a bomb has dropped and it seems to be chaos in every room!!!
Yes I think your little one will prob be in for a surprise if she thinks you will have a supermodel figure immediately after the birth of her DB!!! lol
Pleased you had a good day with your mother, it must be nice to get togather with her, Mine lives over 2 hours away and I only get to see her once month at most. I can drive and have a car but it is over 4 hours round trip!!! so with OH working for himself and having the children to organise it's not that easy to get to see her. I love her to bits and phone her every week-sometimes several times a week. I think we will be going to see family probably just before christmas.
Yes the piggy banks are the sealed pot challenge kind. I think they'l look brill when they're finished-even if they are like 3 or 4 times the size of a normal moneybox!!!!! lol.
I received a £10.00 boots voucher from pigsback today-any idea what the expiry date is likely to be please? as I was hoping to get involved in the christmas 2008 challenge-haven't found a thread for it yet though!!!
Good luck with your cc payments. better go and tidy up-if i can at least make some headway!!!!

I hope you had fun wrapping pressies at your mums. I always wrap my mums for her and enjoy doing it. Good news on the cash back, it will make a good start for next years challenge.

The interest on the credit cards is a real nightmare, my debt would be gone so much quicker without it.

I hope the baby is going to let you get some rest and sleep tonight. hope everything else is ok with you.
