Great thread! Congrats on the baby. I'll bet your really excited.
You have really done a great job with paying off your debts. I have much less than you and it is going to take at least until September 2008 to pay off.
Just think of all the money we will have to spend when we don't have to keep giving it to the banks[STRIKE]CC 1: £102[/STRIKE] / C[STRIKE]C 2: £349[/STRIKE] / [STRIKE]CC 3: £1000[/STRIKE]

Thanks!
September 2008 is no time away. You don't have that long to go.
It's a bit scary to think what it'll be like with no debts (does that sound mad?). Hopefully we can apply the debt busting to saving instead.0 -
Morning!
Your light's on...!
But so is mine and I've got a billion things to do as well. Good luck with your plan for the day.
P.S. Sorry, one muppet husband is enough for me too!0 -
I'm on a break! (Funny how that was said in my head in Ross Gellar's voice!!
)
How about if I PAY someone to have OH? Will that make a difference?0 -
OK, I need a rant. Wise people (or just those who are sick of my moaning ought to skip this post!). Finished the living room and decided to pop to the local PO to collect my parcel. Walked there as there is nowhere to park outside and they are digging the roads up everywhere so I slid and slipped my way along (I think i need to change my name to Bambi as I'm finding it very hard to stay upright - just slipped on the wet kitchen floor as well!!).
So i went in, armed with my little card that says where the parcel has been left and what the special delivery number is and told the woman I needed to collect parcel. Barely before I finished speaking she snapped "We haven't got it" so I replied "Well, it says on this card you have". "Well, the cards wrong, we haven't" she said. So I asked "Would you just check please?" (calmly but through gritted teeth, I suspect). And she said "Well, I could check but i know we don't have it"
So I came home and phoned the sorting office who told me that the PO staff had refused to accept any parcels and it had been left in the PO in the next village. So, de-iced the car, drove through the freezing fog (visibility practically none) to the next village where in contrast the man behind the counter was lovely, though he did roll his eyes when talking about my local PO (I think that was in reference to them, not me though!)
So now I'm really mad, not just at their service, but by the fact that my schedule has got to pot and I'll have to adjust it. I've done several mystery shops at PO's but sadly never seen one for my local PO. Shame because the few times I've been in there the service has been extremely unhelpful and rude. Will definitely not bring myself to go in again and never mind the fact that small village PO's are closing because of lack of use - what do they expect???
OK, rant over, normal service shall now resume!0 -
A PO refusing to accept parcels! Whatever next.
I think once I've paid the debts off I will be transferring to the Mortgage Free Wannabe board. How lovely to totally own my flat and not have to pay so much interest to the bank. I will be rich rich rich[STRIKE]CC 1: £102[/STRIKE] / C[STRIKE]C 2: £349[/STRIKE] / [STRIKE]CC 3: £1000[/STRIKE]

We are thinking about that. There is a poster on here (benbenandme, to name names) who is inspirational in the mortgage overpaying she is doing. It's great to see how many months she's knocking off her mortgage all the time. If we stayed here and overpaid the money that's coming off our debts we could probably get rid of the mortgage in about 4 years but really we need the extra space and when we move the mortgage will be a lot more than we're paying now. Would be nice if we could make some overpayments though.
At the moment the priority is to get out of debt soon, get to the end of my maternity leave without getting back into debt and see what happens then.0 -
Glad I wasn't out when postman called today as they had a bumper haul of stuff!
- Photos from photobox (using free credits)
- Nintendo Wii remote for DS for Christmas
- new credit card
- new debit card
- letter from union confirming I only pay half fees when payments start again in Feb
- CD that DD ordered with her birthday money (well i ordered it but she asked me to!)
- and bizarrely a brown envelope with a DVD of a film called The Lake House that I haven't ordered and it doesn't say where it's come from!?! Competition prize possibly??

Well, house looking much better than first thing this morning. Have written shopping list in case OH decides to go tonight; going to spend 15 minutes finishing writing cards for the neighbours (then sending DS out with them) while the pasta bake that DS made at school today heats up, then need to get ready for the panto!
Altogether now...he's behind you!0 -
Bloomin heck choco - a busy day and full of ups and downs!
I hope the panto was good.
