wow, love the gingerbread house, that must have taken a while to finish. I dont know how you fit everything in. Im just writing out my last cards now, i get so lazy and end up posting them really late. Have you decided what to do about the evening performance yet, its so hard to know what to do in these situations.
Hope everything is well with youDFW NERD NO.656 DEBT FREE 24TH NOVEMBER 2010 TOTAL DEBT AUGUST 2007 £39000MFiT T2 NO.56 WE OWN [STRIKE]25%[/STRIKE] 31.5% OF OUR HOUSE SO FAR!0 -
Its a bit of a difficult one! Would you definitely be seen by your dad if you went? No chance of hiding? Or no chance of helping out backstage for that performance, or maybe leaving 5 mins before the end of the play or something? Nobody else would notice - they'd just thing that the heavily pregnant woman was off to the toilet again!
Hope it all goes well anyway and that DS makes a speedy recovery. He hadn't been near the gingerbread house by any chance, had he?!0 -
No, he would definitely see me - it's a small school hall. Haven't made up my mind yet, will talk to DD later and see how upset she would be if I didn't go. It's not just that I don't want to see him; he and my step-monster always monopolise all the staff and talk in loud fake-posh voices about how much they do for us and my sister etc etc - they are just so false! Last year I had so many colleagues saying to me "I was talking to your Dad and he said...blah, blah, blah" and it's all lies!
Luckily most of the staff can see through him (one member of staff even said to me "Funny how your Mum doesn't need to brag about how good she is and how much she does; maybe it's because we can see it for ourselves?") but in a way that makes it even worse. I wish they could just stay in the background, but no, everyone has to know they are there!! Families!!!0 -

Lol, it's easy to fit everything in when you don't have to work. Wait until I go back to work and I'll be bemoaning how I have no time for anything. In fact, no i won't as I won't have time to post!!0 -
Lol, families! Can't live with them, could quite easily live without them!!! (meant in the nicest possible way, of course!). My MIL is driving me up the wall at the moment - thing she's going batty. Oh well, it will be our kids saying the same about us in a few years. Quite sad really when you think about it!0
-
I don't have a MIL as she died when DD was small but I hadn't really met her anyway as OH didn't speak to her because she had an affair and took off with his Dad's best friend. OH's Dad remarried and we rarely see them unless OH goes there. OH's Gran (who he's devoted to) never stops complaining and never has a nice word to say about anyone. OH has 4 brothers and sisters some of whom are lovely and some of whom would rip you off without a second thought! My Dad - nuff said, my sister is generally unpleasant and my Mam is lovely (but rubbish with money and everyday life)
At least we don't spoil two families!!
I'm hoping that I can learn by all their mistakes and be a good parent when mine are grown up (though I'll probably still drive them up the wall!)0 -
Wow, you've got your own little soap-opera there! You should write a book about it!
Makes me feel quite normal - my parents have been married forever and drive us up the wall, but only because they 'mean well' in the way that parents do when they get older! OH's parents are the same, but they drive us up the wall in totally different ways. OH's also got a half-sister (as his mum married when whe was 18, divorced when she was 20ish, and has been with FIL for 30-odd years ever since, so not much scandal there!) who has 3 kids, long term partner, and is a bit scatty but on the whole very nice! I feel rather dull after hearing about your family!
PS Still trying to work out the !!!!less word you used to describe your mam!0 -
All I ever wanted was a "normal" family. My best friend has a mum and dad who have been married years and a normal brother. her husband has a similar family and I am so envious! Mind you, she still complains about them!!
Having said that, my family is the normal compared to some of what I see at school -
The word I wasn't allowed to use is like the rude F word but with an "e" instead of a "u". It's the word I needed but MSE didn't like it!0 -
Aah! I understand! Had bizarre images of lady with all sorts of bodily parts missing, but that's probably just because I've got a mind like a sewer. Just got to see if it lets any of these words through - apologies in advance for any offence if it does!!!:

Nope, the filters are obviously intact!0
