  • DD's birthday today and she was so excited she came and got in our bed at 3am. She swears she barely slept after that but she did really! She is dying to wake her brother up to get her present from him but she's going to have to wait!!

Had a bit of a bad experience last night; was a bit stiff after our walk in the snow and I went to move my leg from the sofa to find it had seized up. DD (being helpful, she thought) wrenched my leg down causing really bad pain in my pelvis after which I could barely stand or walk. It brought tears to my eyes every time I stood up. Seems to be a lot better his morning though still stiff - don't think I'll be playing football at the party this afternoon!!

    Phew, finally caught up!

That gingerbread house is an absolute masterpiece!

Thank you! I made all the pieces myself, you know, sugar crafted people and everything! Nah, it's a kit from Aldi, you just need to ice it all together (which was a feat in itself for me - I thought about sending it to my Mam's to do but I bought her one to do with my nieces and it's still in the box so far)

I agree and will probably go stale anyway before it's eaten. Don't suppose anyone would notice if I stole the sweets off the back though

Sounds painful - not so good. I think the only cure would be some sweets from the gingerbread house...

  • It went really well. The kids all loved it despite the fact that it was wet and cold. None of them complained at all although they did all go home rather muddy and I think I may avoid the parents at the school gate for a day or two until they forget about the washing they have to do!
  • Well, we had a lovely weekend but the aftermath is in evidence now! The washing and ironing baskets are overflowing, the floors are filthy and there is "stuff" everywhere! I've put the dishwasher and washing machine on, washed all the party food trays and returned them and then decided to have an hour on here before I face anything else.

OH went to work last night and obviously decided he didn't need to put anything away before he went so he's left shoes and coats and junk all over; DD's presents are still piled in the living room and the fridge is filled with leftover party food - I guess that's lunch and dinner sorted for today! There are Christmas presents in various states of wrapping all over our bedroom and piles of baby clothes to put away but no coathangers to hang them with.

Also I need to write Christmas cards for my class at school, and my last year's class to drop off tomorrow when I go to the Christmas performance.

So much to do, and yet I sit here at the computer!

Glad that you had a weekend and the injured leg/pelvis didn't seem to stop you too much. Guessing all the party goodies helped just a little!

Don't worry about all the mess - I've got exactly the same at home except about 10 times worse, and I'm back at work today so all chance of getting anything useful done has gone out the window. WHY did I not do more when I was off, instead of going out shopping every day, spending money I can't afford, and bringing more stuff into the house that hasn't got anywhere to go?!

I'm sure that by the end of today you'll have everything done - you always seem to manage miracles!

P.S. Ta for the reminder about cards - I hadn't even thought of doing those! Guess I'll be bringing my address book and a few boxes into work tomorrow!
  • Well, after having DD off sick last week, DS ate his breakfast this morning and promptly threw it all back up! Nice! Phoned his school who wanted to know if he will be back tomorrow as he is missing CAT tests, whatever they are! I could only answer that he would be there if he was well enough! No point sending him to school ill, as he wouldn't do what he was capable of in any tests anyway!

DD's school play this afternoon. She's a bit nervous as the headteacher has stepped in at the last moment and cut scenes, changed parts and added bits so she says she doesn't know when she's supposed to speak an more! Even worse, the head will stand at the back and interrupt all through the play as she does every year). Why she can't just let them get on with it I don't know! Anyway, I'm sure I will think DD is fantastic and I get a free mince pie! :)

Got a bit of a dilemma about the evening performance. I don't want to go again as my dad and his wife are ging to that one, but don't want to let DD down either. :(
