Don't feel guilty at all about having time away from work - you and the baby are what is more important at the moment, so if you need time off, take it. As simple as that!

Congratulations BTW on the pregnancy. I hope all goes well for you xx

Well, we're off to pay the balance off our Disneylnd Paris trip today (ouch!). Will have to go on the Egg card that I cleared this month but will be paid enough at end of month to clear all except £120 of it. I am working hard on finding that £120! Have some money to come from ebay and some more stuff to put on there this weekend plus I think I am almost up to the number of points needed for £20 on Mutual Points. Plus I think I have £15 due form Retail Eyes. None of it is very much but hopefully it will all add up. I will be gutted if I have to pay interest on the egg card because I can't find the full amount. Also, not sure if anyone does Home of research surveys but i am about £1 away from the £20 payout level but every survey I try lately I am not suitable for...grrr...

Hmmm... maybe should go check down the back of the sofa, see if I can find any money that way!

With a bit of focus you will find that £120. The motivation of not paying interest on the egg card will spur you on.

    Have a good weekend!

Did I understand this right? - You've been covering a maternity leave? What will you do now? Are you on the look out for a new job (Sorry if I misread the situation?). Whereabouts are you? I know it is a nightmare trying to find a job where I am - approx 150 candidates for each job - how do you stand out among that many people?

Oh, and ended up with £30 for today's ebay items, so 1/4 of the way to the needed £120. Gotta list some more tomorrow.
  • :T for ebay!
Yes, my working week this last year has been Mon - Y3 Tue - Rec - Wed Y6 - Thurs - Y6 Fri Y2 at 2 different schools. However the Y6 funding ran out. Y2 / Y3 /Rec maternity coming back ...
The arrangement has suited me because my 2 sons are home-educated (GCSEs now) and will be for the next year. I've got a couple of people who've asked me to give them a ring tho - not sure whether thats for general cover or something regular.
Whilst, I'm glad because it means I can spend more time on the boys, it does mean I'll be skint...I f only the DfES would pay ME what they would have paid a school for my sons, we'd be laughing, lol.

Been so busy / tired this last couple of weeks have barely had the chance to come on here. I must have tons to catch up on, on the threads I like to read regularly!

Been up past midnight all this week, tapping away at laptop writing reports. My own fault really, we were given the due date for them 3 weeks ago and I have been so tired I left them till the last week. plus rather than doing it the quick way and using the given comments on the report writing software i wrote them myself because after having taught the class for two years I wanted them to sound "real" and not a generic report that could be anyone, if you know what I mean.

Feel as if have been slipping in DF ways too. Have had a school lunch 2 or 3 days rather than taking pack lunch and haven't had time(?) / motivation (?) to do daily clicks.

Will have a busy week next week to, have got a school trip and a sports festival to attend, plus went to midwife yesterday and due to my previous history has booked me an early scan for Wednesday (even though she said she wasn't actually supposed to!). I am quite scared to go as I can only imagine what happened last time and am praying that history doesn't repeat. Keep your fingers crossed for me please!
  • Glad you're on top of all the work - reports must be the last BIG job to do?? Hopefully, you can start to wind down. A bit.

'We've' just done our first home-ed gcse exam which has meant me burning the midnight oil to get their revision stuff sorted for the following day (somebody mention leaving things late  ?!). Pleased to have got The First out of the way - step in the dark for all of us really. Fingers crossed til August now.

I've been off from here for a week or 2 and don't things change fast on here - eventually found 'my' threads down on pages 20-30 odd. Apart from IA who is always reassuringly near the top!

Don't worry about lunches - you need to eat first and DFW later. I don't think you're going to fall completely off the wagon because you're tired and have loads going on - summer hols will soon be here...

Good Luck with the scan - everything crossed here for you!

    K

    Thanks for that.

How do home schooling GCSEs work then? Do they have to go somewhere "official" to take them? My only experience of homeschooling is a family in my village who took their brood of children out of school because the teachers exprected them to write and the children didn't want to. As far as I can tell their education now comes from delivering Bettaware catalogues and hanging around on street corners. I spoke to their mother once about it and she said they didn't need exams as Universities and jobs would accept their "life experience" instead - I wasn't convinced on that one.

She tried to convince me to homeschool my two but the flaw in the plan was that I wouldn't get paid for that. Plus I do teach DD anyways so it works out all round. DS didn't have such a good primary experience though. I was always told he was "about average" and would struggle to get Level 4 in his KS2 SATS. That didn't seem right to me either as I always thought he picked things up fast. I began working at his school and realised that the problem was he was very quiet so was therefore overlooked. I worked with him at home and he went on to get the highest SAT scores in the whole school. I only wish I had had the confidence / knowledge during his earlier years at school to have done something about it - he definitely didn't have a positive early experience.

Wow! That turned into a rant didn't it? Wasn't expecting that at all!
