I cant be the only long term poster that has seen a massive increase in apparently `bewildered` new posters asking what can only be desribed as stupid questions....

    can i ?

Well aren't you clever for never being bewildered, or asking stupid questions.
Being supportive means answering any questions whether you think them stupid or not. People in serious debt can be at the end of their tether and "bewildered" is an understatement.
I suggest you start your own thread along the lines of "Arrogant and condescending members only"

    Well, well, well!

Another post that was started with good intentions and could be seen to be just turning into another slanging match.

All we newbies want is to be able to get good fair advice on how to deal with our Debt.

I of course understand that different people have different views on lots of different things, but that does not give anyone the right be rude and hurt other peoples feelings. I have always been brought up to believe that you never know everything and you should never be afraid to ask.

Are you a moral crusader in the outside world as well ?

No I'm probably even less moral than your own good self. I just think that occasionally If you feel that something is wrong then you have to comment on it.

I agree fully with you that there seems to have been a sudden influx of new posters. Maybe there is good reason for this, like the Banks declaring first half year results. Also that they have to sell bad debts on before those debts can be written off as a Tax Loss.

If you think some of the questions are stupid, then look at some of my first posts? We don't all have the benefit of a University Education.

Hello Handyman, wise words indeed but a suggestion if i may?
Please post in the relevant section as this is surely supposed to be in the praise/vents/warnings section.

Ill let you off seeing as your recently new...!

I am sorry I have posted in the wrong place. If I can explain, in responding to a thread posted by a newbie last night. A search revealed that a fair few new posters across the boards had received what I would call a savage welcome. It may well be that some of them are not what they say they are. I just feel that we should take every one a face value. If they are wannabee trolls or DCA's time will tell.
Like I said before We shouldn't Shoot First and Ask Questions Later.

As the search originated on DFW, I assumed that this was the place to leave my comments.

My regards to you all, I believe enough has now been said on this matter. Lets get back to work, and get on with the reasons why we are here. To Help others and ourselves with our debt problems.

I think that Handy tired to do a nice thing by starting this thread...... and now it seems like all it has done is create arguments and probably put a few newbies off:eek:

Maybe now is the time to leave this thread and concentrate on what we do best and that is helping and supporting people.

Everyone has different points of view and we will never all agree all of the time, but we at least can be nice :D I also know everyone has something to offer.

I think every once in a while having a read of this helps
Pls remember Debt-Free Wannabee's for support and help not judgement

Sometimes members of MSE, spend more time on other boards, and get used to the way things are posted on other boards, they then forget that this is DFW :(

    As an "oldie"
I have seen most of the same questions posted 1000's of times, and I always try to reply in a positive, polite, suportive or helpful manner,
I've posted the same answers, the same links to other boards
I've ignored threads that are an obvious wind up
I've replied to threads where I haven't got an answer to the question , hopeing one of the clever bods come along , just giveing a bit of support (which sometimes is the urgent thing to do)

    Hello
  • I am relatively new finally asked a question about my credit card and got a reply saying check my credit card FAQ's on their website?? obviously i had done this prior but since then have found the certain person that replied is sarcastic in his answers in general and a bit of a know all on the credit card forum so i am not taking it personal but yes i would imagine not nice if you come on for support to be met with unhelpful comments :(
