What happened with Nidddy i missed that .
Niddy left due to changes in the forums (as handyman lists), so he and others went.
They currently reside over on their own forums now at http://www.forum.bankruptcyandlivingwithit.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=35
I think the changes are down to the economic times, rather than the forum getting mature. Obviously the bigger the name it gets the more people that come along. More people then a high percentage was 'bad' people too (trolls).
But, Since everyone is tightening their belts, some people do not like to see others spending aload of money and getting into or are already in debt, given much of this recession is a credit crunch caused by bad debtors, they become easy targets. The problem is those that come here for help will 99.9% be here to admit they have a problem and want help to fix it.
I've only really seen one person on the forums who came for help yet was burning money on luxuries to no end and wouldn't give it up.
And i have seen a couple of debt avoiders using CCA for an improper purpose, and how to avoid detection by DCAs.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -

Thanks mate, well put. I started this thread cos I was angry that some folks wouldn't give newbies the benefit of doubt. I agree that as things get worse more people are going to find their way here. I can't remember if I read it or it was Martins TV spot, but I remember Martin saying that MSE is now the No3 social networking site in the UK with 8M members.
Today showed the true colours of some folk. I may be naive, but I have been now for over half a century and am not [STRIKE]do not want[/STRIKE] going to change now.
Look at my signature, I believe the world is made up of all types of folks, the Wise, the Ignorant, The Tolerant, The Intolerant, The Brave and the Foolish.
All I ask is you treat every one at face value (at least until they have proved themselves) and in a way you would like to be treated yourself.
To the site Management, Thank you for moving this thread. I never meant to cause any disruption or strife on DFW. I just wanted any newby to realise that there are people who will give them a fair hearing and point them in the right direction to find the help they need.
My sincerest apologies for any trouble or offence caused.
Best wishes to all, handy.Mother Nature Don't Draw Straight lines, We are Broken Moulds in Life's Grand Design, We look a Mess but we're doing fine,

I was new in December last year but it was actually some posts I made last month that received, what I perceived to be, quite sharp-edged shall we say. After the first one or two I fought back my tears but after that I couldn't hold back and felt very, very low.
My circumstances are far from dire now, but I am a few weeks off having my second child, and my boyfriends only just started his holiday (he's in the Navy so away for long periods of time) and I am worried about the next few months/years.
Mainly because, although we are getting my debts paid off, I have defaults on my credit report which are inaccurate or wrongly applied. These defaults, on an otherwise OK credit report which I was trying to build up, are preventing me from getting a new property to rent (can't pass credit checks) and hindered a new application for a landline and broadband (massive deposit wanted again due to credit rating) so costing me more with the current deal I'm on etc. My main issue, which breaks my heart, is that my flat is unsuitable for my family in the winter due to the extensive mould problem that my landlords and local council refuse to help with. I have been treated less than favourably and my daughter ended up on an inhaler with recurring eye infections last year/early this year due to the massive amount of mould spoors in the bedrooms and bathroom, not to mention the black walls in the kitchen, where we obviously store and prepare food. I deem it as MY responsibility to provide adequate housing for my kids and I feel a complete failure that I cannot do that, because of some companies I disputed amounts with (for very legitimate reasons!).
I spoke to one of the site admin team about the posts, who was great and pointed out that although the person replying was a long-standing member of MSE, they weren't being very nice, I wasn't just imagining it etc etc.
However, I am reluctant to post further questions relating to a particular problem with one creditor for fear of sparking off their comments again!
So, I'd like to say a HUGE thank you to all newbies and oldies who do help, console and support genuine MSErs because you far outweigh the nasties on here!I've got nothing else but I've got my family.

But I know what you mean Handy, although I have to say, the "Reclaiming charges" and "Loans" boards are worse. Some people on there are utterly rude!

Folk's ought to remember, There for The Grace (of what ever you believe in) God Go I.
I have worked in many things, including the Construction Industry. Guys I have worked with (before we discovered the compensation culture), who were fine one moment. The next Burgerd through accident or Illness.
Guys who were reading the Sun one moment, Complaining about scroungers and then the next complaining that the compo or benefits were not enough to support them until things got sorted out.
I don't care who you are, things can be fine one moment. You say it could never possibly happen to me? Then Murpheys law strikes you or one of your Family down. I just hope that when they need to ask for help, they don't meet the same response they gave others.
As I have said before if you want to be dodgy you don't need to go on the net for info on how to beat the benefits system. An evening in any inner city estate pub anywhere in the country will suffice.
Sorry for this evenings rant.
Warmest regards to all, handy.

Hi Everyone,
I couldn't agree more with what handyman and the rest of you have stated. In the last few weeks I've read threads from some users that are spiteful, childish and are tant amount to bullying. Earlier this week another idiot (or troll as they're called) decided for whatever reason to have an outburst about us all being so gullible. As you'll see from my details, I'm fairly new to the forum, but I can tell everyone, that other than a chosen few trolls, I've never had anything other than support and assistance when I needed help/advice and when I got this advice nobody ever judged me. As I said, some trolls have been judging, but I along with the rest of you am not on this forum to judge anyone and would rather help them first. If I can't say anything good, I usually don't say anything, so like handy says, new members should be helped, encouraged and treated with respect and if the trolls can't say anything good, then perhaps they shouldn't say anything at all. Thanks to those who have made the forum the success it is and also for helping and welcoming me when I needed it. And for climbintheladderoutofdebt and anyone else reluctant to post threads/questions. Don't let the minority beat the majority! Ask as many questions as you like and if a troll answers negatively/rudely PLEASE report it as abuse.
End of Rant!If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

I'm ashamed to admit i once looked down on those on benefits, was jealous of how much money they seemed to be getting. What i didn't know what how much mental illness can RUIN your life and how a lot ot the things i thought the people in question were paying for were actually on credit cards and loans cos of their illness. It was a sharp shock to the system when at 23, just after graduating uni and getting my first full time job i fell victim to mental illness and found myself first, off sick and later lost my job cos of my illnesses. i put off applying for help i was entitled to cos of the stigma and ended up in debt. I found out the hard way NEVER to judge others. It can happen to any of us yet some posters think it won't.This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
